Madman gave me a note to find a Black Book..

It says it's at Tel Mithryn Tower. Is that an actual location? I can't imagine where it is since it's not anywhere near Tel Mithryn...

I think that is the name of the giant mushroom tower.

There is a Black Book there; it was just sitting on the Alchemy table (or was it Enchanting table?) in my game.

Main tower. I dunno if its always there or you have to do quests for Neloth first. Its the one called Hidden Twilight.

I think I see it, it's on his enchanting table behind a locked door. I'm guessing if I find him his new steward (which I've been procrastinating) I'll be able to get back there?

Perhaps. Or you might have to do his whole questline. He has quite a few quests. I'm not sure exactly as I just was randomly looking around one day and saw it there. Kinda was like 'Oh! How long has that been there? I've been wondering where that book was!'. This was after I had done the quest with his old assistant and he had made me a member of Telvanni House though.

I have completed this quest on several multiple play thrus and the Mad Mad with note to find the blackbook at the mushroom tower quest will spawn repeatedly.

Meaning the quest will Perma stick in the quest journal as a new quest even tho I've completed it.

There is one 1 blackbook from the tower near the staff machine maker.

I think this is the only major bug I've come across in the entire DLC - well besides the random Xbox lockups during game play.

But keeping the save files low and rebooting when lag arises fixes the lockup issue.

Back to the madman blackbook note quest - I've just saved that one quest and left it open. Leaving the existing blackbook in the shroom tower alone.

Everything else in the Dragonborn DLC is awesome, worth every minute and red cent spent. Highly recommend this DLC for Skyrim.

there are a few more small bugs but ill list those in the bug thread. Nothing serious tho.

follow the quest marker :P

it's a pain to get, you have to do a handful of quests for neloth before he gives you the key to the room it's in

You do not need to kill the Madman. I got him to tell me where the book was through dialogue. He attacked me after I exited the dialogue, but I just used pacify on him and left. No need to kill an unarmed, unarmored, defenseless dude, even if he is insane.

You don't even need the key - he let's you in to use his staff maker at some point in his questline. Do what I did and nab it then. However, since then, I have been unable to access the room again, and having the black book before i'm told to use it messes the MQ up :(

Really? I haven't even started the MQ and I have read two already. Does that mean I won't be able to do it?

No, you can still finish the quest, but I found that the objectives messed up. For example one of the books said something like, "Go here and find said book". Then updated later to the next part of the quest. My issue was that i'd already found it.

Cap, don't read as you've not started the MQ yet - minor spoiler only but still a spoiler:
Spoiler
Like Waking Dreams (is that correct?) After I was booted out, I entered it again and collected the word of power. Then, when you are sent in later, I was told to collect it. I was like 'What?!'
