I keep finding enchanted weapons as loot, but, since I'm pretty much a pure mage here (save some 1-handed) I don't really use them because I'm usually not swinging a sword. Anyway, I kind of feel left out of this unique mechanic. And I don't really need to soul trap any creatures either, since I'm not refilling the weapons. The only time I have used one is when I was out of magicka completely and zapped some enemies with a staff.

All I really do is disenchant these items for use in enchanting armor.

Can any other fellow mages offer advice on how to use enchanted weapons, as a mage?

I do the same thing, disenchant them, or give them to a companion to use?

also the value of enchanted items isnt bad. If you master enchanting you start making bank $$$$$$

The situation seems very simple. Either you going to use the weapon or your'e not. I'm not sure there's a lot of wiggle room with that.

You're not going to have a use for everything you find. Like stamina potions and various armors you dislike.

I collect them and display them on my bed and dining room table. I have a real weakness for shiny blades.

Thanks for the input. So to soul steal, as a mage, should I just cast the "soul steal" spell before battle? I think it has a 60-second timer and if any mob dies, you get it's soul? Any advice on what kind of a fight I should be soul-stealing on? I am guessing trash mobs just give you petty souls.

I've found having a backup weapon is good even if you're mostly a mage. When you run out of mana, you can swap to your weapon, poison it, and do a few power attacks until you're out of stamina, and then switch back to magic again.

If it's big and scary, has a name, or is attacking you one on one, then you should probably soul trap it.
