Mage questline: should I finish it?

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 4:06 pm

So, mage here, obivously. I've only done a couple of quests at the mage guild so far. I'm enjoying them, definitely. And I know the quest rewards are very helpful to a mage.

I guess I'm a little apprehensive about finishing the quest series because:

A. I'm afraid I may be too powerful with all my new items (playing on expert) -- thus making the game less fun.

B. I won't have much to look forward to if I finish this questline because it's so interesting and the most relevant to my playstyle.

So, I'm asking other mages who HAVE finished the line, what are your responses to my points above? Is the game still enjoyable after finishing that series? Are there other quests/questlines equally as engaging?

Do it, I really enjoy the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves guild stuff as well, but thats me.

If you find your not enjoying being a mage anymore, re roll a diff spec and go again

Okay I'll finish it up then. Does the game scale with my level at all? Do dungeons scale up?

Also, do you guys do all the guild questlines or just the one appropriate for your character? (if you're a mage, you do mage only, warrior, you only do Companions, etc.)

Roger. I'm enjoying my mage. Good to hear dungeons are still a challenge when you level up! Dragons have been pretty easy so far. I like the fight mechanics though.

i've found them to be a bit easier then my first few but still a decent challenge as a mage. Not as hard because i understand how to fight them finally and impact is OP against them with shouts. Im on master so everything staying relativly difficult. Ill say that Dragon priests have proven to be much more of a challenge to me than dragons lately. 1 shot my instantly with Lightning bolt and turn you're atronachs and undead against u XD

Dungeons scale with your level, but once you enter a dungeon it stays at the level you entered at permanently. So for example if you go into a dungeon at level 1, immediately leave, and come back at level 30, it will still be scaled for a level 1. but if you then go to a new dungeon you haven't visited, it is scaled to level 30.

At least this is what I've read/been told. Whether it matters if you kill everything and they respawn or not, I don't know. But if you mean entering new dungeons, yes they are scaled for you.
