I thought magicka didn't regen while casting something, but I recently noticed I was churning out fireballs or flames without losing any mana - because now it does regen while I'm casting. Why ?

Unrelated to taking any perk or changing equipment, but it did start happening around when I used Dragonskin (the 50% magicka absorb breton power) against a caster. I'm now in Dragonsreach and still regenerating fulltime.
Experimented a bit with this but can't find definitive explanations. Anyone ?

After a bit more testing, I found out this "effect" dissipates (for good) after doing anything that changes my maximum magicka.

... and also after a certain amount of fast travelling (but not waiting).


I'm inclined to think it was provoked in the first place by something related to maximum magicka (picking +10 magicka on levelup, equipping an item that has a +magicka enchantment on it...).

Interesting! I was kind of sad to notice that regen doesn't work when casting. Endless sparks is what I was envisioning a week ago. :-/

I'll have to through up my dragonskin power and give it a whirl. BTW, did we ever decide if spell absorption also reduces spell damage?

From my limited testing: absorption fully negates spell damage and is a chance to happen while resistance lowers it by the amount of resistance you have.

Had this happen to me too my magica regened so fast I could cas unlimited spells I think it has something to do with the college of winterhold

How strange, that's how it was in previous TES games, but I thought it was different this time (especially after reading the atronach perk description).
