My major grief with Skyrim

Post » Thu Feb 21, 2013 8:19 am

Yes, I know there are *bigger* problems. But mine may be more of a console tech limitation than anything. I simply can't stand the obviously repeating texture tiles on the landscape, especially when viewed from an elevated position. And the frozen waterfalls at a distance. That said, I still love the game, but that just bugs me.

I can't wait for the next generation of consoles. I know they will pale in comparison to the PC, but I don't care...

Those frozen waterfalls are especially Immersion-Breaking.

The frozen waterfalls are irritating for sure.
But yes there are bigger issues I would rather them fix respawns and clean up first.

Hopefully with the release of the new consoles for console users they can port Skyrim over and continue to make improvements for us all: I just do not think they will port Sky on to the new system.

I'm playing Just Cause 2 right now. Sure, I understand how they use totally different engines but, damn, why does the JC2 landscape look so much better. No loading screens and it's something like 1000 sq km.

I hate the mid range texture tiles and frozen waterfalls.

My worry is that even if we move into a new console generation they will still try and push technology to its limit so we may still end up with problems similar to these! I personally would not mind them not going for extreme graphic fidelity next gen but just sticking with what we have and just pushing on draw distances and AI and things like that?
