Make 3D scene from Morrowind map

Post » Fri Oct 14, 2016 12:48 am

Hello, this isn't about the CS.

I wanted to know if it's possible to export a Morrowind cell as a 3D scene that can be used, for example, as setting for a 3D video. I'd rather avoid placing every object by hand...

Thank you :D

Actually, Greatness7 was working on exactly this a while back. However, I have only been able to find these two posts about it, and I don't think he ever released it:

Maybe write him a PM about it.

Those scripts by Greatness7 really seem to be what I was looking for. I've sent him a PM right now, thanks Pherim!

And of course DX ripper seems a valid alternative too. Does DX ripper "deduce" the 3D models basing on screencaps, or it grabs the actual 3D models?

Full 3d-scene of course.

Textures are disabled.

Captured of Ald*Redanya + added bump maps to materials (all textures are vanilla) + shadow&light = render. We had an AVI file, but now we lost it.

And it! Better to capture the scene in game, it`s added shading to meshes. Also You can captured the Scenes via TES CS, but it slightly worse.

For making 3d Renders DXr is very useful program.

Impressive indeed! It can be useful for other games, too!

You said textures are disabled, does that mean you have to add them to the meshes yourself?

Do you have to disable some external mods such as MGE? I tried launching 3D Ripper but Morrowind crashed.

How do you get it to work?

EDIT. Nevermind I got it to work. Good thing I have a zip with vanilla Morrowind inside!

I used vanilla Morrowind and set the resolution windowed, 800x600.

Greatness7 sent me his scripts to export statics to Blender, http://i.imgur.com/nBeAwyt.jpg are the results of a quick test. I exported the landmass using Yacoby's CellToNif.

BTW thanks everyone for your help!

Ok, I managed to import .3dr files, and http://i.imgur.com/APYpbVn.jpg.

All textures are imported (with changed name), and there's no deformation like with .obj files.

There are http://i.imgur.com/Hl70Ted.jpg, which are not blended like ingame, and the whole scene is http://i.imgur.com/7oTIBoz.jpg but the overall result is wonderful.

Thanks miktorch, Pherim and Greatness7 for your help :)

Would be lovely if the tools would be released, if possible, so that we don't have to all individually bother Greatness. :D
