Making a Nord Battlemage for Dragonborn

Post » Mon Feb 04, 2013 12:15 am

Hey guys I am making a Nord Battlemage for Dragonborn and was curious about my build. Was going to with dual destro, resto, two handed, alchemy, smithing, heavy armor and enchanting. Basically the general idea is to blast baddies from afar and then crush them with my warhammer(nordic looks nice) once they get close. I was wondering though if anyone has tried a shield and magic battlemage.

Basically everything else would be the same except no dual wield in destro or two handed. Add in instead block and one hand for when the baddies close the distance. I was thinking about this build after stupid World of Warcraft sent me a free 10 days to come back and I use to play an elemental shaman in the game(they used a shield while casting lightning/fire/frost spells). Just wondering if anyone has tried this type of guy before. Will be wearing the carved nordic armor since it is sooooooo amazing looking.

Thank you for your time guys

You will want to get the temple preist hood with your nordic carved armor, best battlemage look there is. Only issue is that the hood can only be aquired with the pickpocket perk or killing the priest.

I made a nord battlemage who wore light stalhrim, used ice destruction magic only, and usually just the frost breath shout (after getting HM's book that makes it awesome, anyway). It worked great, and I looked badass wearing stalhrim wielding a stalhrim greatsword while rocking the frost cloak spell. It also is very effective in close quarters combat if you have the perk that freezes them when they're close to death. This build seems the most appropriate to me for a nord battlemage build. I recommend using alteration as well for the armor spells.

Should work. I always get my mages to cross train with weapons and armor, if for no other reason than to level up. You won't need DUal Wielding perks if you are using magic and 2 handed weapons (I think).

I have made melee first "battlemages" before but wanted a casting first. I think I will try the shield mage or Elemental Shaman as I am refering to is as. I can pretend like I am playing WoW again without the annoying xp/rp grind, 15 dollars a month and annoying gold sellers spamming trade chat lol.
