Making a vampire

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 6:46 am

Making a vampire class, though I don't want to be a mage using vampire lord form. I want to be more like an assassin vampire or something (sneak, light armor, one handed, archery). But since vampires have some buffs in illusion and the armor will give like magicka and [censored] I was thinking that I would go like an assassin using [censored] magic in one hand or wtf do I do? :/ Would be cool to use illusion and/or vampire abilitys in the left and a [censored] sword in the other. What are your thoughts? =)

My Vampire character uses a sword in his right hand and Conjuration in his left, I also have some points in Archery,Blacksmithing,Enchanting. I use Light armor mostly the Royal Vampire Armor but I will wear the Dragonscale Armor from time to time. I do plan on using some of my points on Conjuration but i really dont use illusion or alteration that much. Sneak is extremely helpful and i almost have 100 lockpicking ( mainly so i can sneak into anyones house to feed. )

Hope this helps

I have two vampire characters right now, one a mage and a new one that will be again mage but use bound weapons only. I find Archery is an awesome weapon for vamps as the whole point of a vampire is stealth and not being seen. I'd also recommend using one handed weapons with illusion in the other, for example a dagger in the right and illusion spell like invisibility in the left. Both characters of mine rely heavily on illusion to stay hidden.

As for armour, stick with clothing or light armour. Heavy armour will give you away too easily and while light armour makes you louder than clothing, in my opinion when things get hairy the its definatly worth it. Also when it comes to enchantments, go for resist fire as your primary enchantment on items and if you get the perk that lets you dual enchant, then give yourself secondary enchantments as you need them, so if you go mage, magicka regeneration or fortify school enchants etc.

Other than these tips, I can only suggest you try it out and mix it up. See what you enjoy. If you like being a mage keep going, if not try something else.

Are you saying you became a vampire and then reverted to a save before you became a vampire but still have the vampire bonuses etc?

If so: Do you have the feeding mechanics, sunlight damage, stage progression and the vampire bonuses and active effects?

If you do, then your save must have been either after you turned into a vampire or you have encountered one hell of a bug that I've never heard of.
If you only have the active effects, but not the sunlight damage, feeding etc then I'm not sure what happened but I would continue playing to see if it fixes itself. Plus you have the active effects like permanent 25% sneak buff which isn't bad at all.

after you lead the lady to her castle she says she'll do the talking, i saved it there, i then decided to become a vampire after her father taks to you, i went through to learn about the vampire load abilitites then he says i have a task i said i was ready, then before talking to the guy who gives you somthing, i decided to revert to my save before becoming a vampire, i did thus. then i said no i didnt want to join and left. i then went back to the dawnguard tower and told them about the scroll and he said find a recuit these two people. i recruited one but decided to go back because i still had the resist to fire -25% and when i waited till morning i had somthing pop up about being in the sun even thouh i chose to not become a vampire, could it be do to going to fin that girl and getting stabbed in the hand ?

Edit: I decided to revert and not become a vampire which will be my last change (I hope) :P

Thanks guys this really helped. However, I will chose one handed, illusion, archery. But is the vampire armor clothing or light armor? And how many points should I put into magica when i′m only going illusion? =)

I decided just to make a new charactor, instead of using my current one as it ran into issues, after choosing to become a vampire then switching to not become one, I will do the main quests then I shall return for the DLC.

Cheers.

By the way. I just started my new character (Sneak, One Handed, Illusion and Archery) the first thing I did after killing the dragon at western watchtotwer I entered a cave and became a vampire. Now, in order to start the Dawnguard questline do I haver to cure myself since you start the questline via Dawnguard faction? Or will they ignore my vampirism and let me start the questline anyway?

They will ignore the fact you are a vampire so you can get it started.

This is probably because of some properties who is set in the game and not restored on reload.

Real weird experience, I was doing the slaver capture quest in Fallout 3 where you use the paralyze gun and put an collar on the targets.
Tried it on a lady in tenpenny tower, she alerted the guards then I put on the collar so I reloaded, she was now at the slavers camp but not enslaved and I saw that she walked back to the tower because some issue while reloading, I intercepted her and put on the collar and continued.

well i decided i would just become a vampire on this file, and i'll be making a non vampire char, to do the main quests then do the DLC. Thank you for all your guy's help

Cheers.

I should just make this as my signature, so others would be properly enlightened on the glory of the Illusion school

Stealth Mage: (I picked female High Elf for role-playing purposes)
  • Enchanting: Get this to 100 ASAP. Just pick the middle tree
  • Illusion: Pump points into the right tree, the left tree just leave it at Apprentice and wait it out for 100 Enchanting and no cost Illusion. You're gonna spam invisibility any way, so you don't have to worry about it taking to long to get to 100.
  • Conjuration: Points into the Atronach tree (undead tree too if you feel like it), and Bound Weapon damage perk because you will rely on the bound bow after you have no-cost conjurations. Get to 100 so you can summon two atronachs or undead at the same time!
  • Restoration: I played a vampire, so I get myself Necromage (mostly for the free no-cost slot so I can don't have to wear that ugly circlet), but also Necromage seriously increase duration of my spells (Conjured creatures and illusion spells)
  • Archery: Put points in this at your leisure, but pick the left tree because you don't need ranger perk (most of the time you will be shooting in the shadow and then disappear anyway)
  • Smithing: Just get to Arcane smithing, 100 this at your leisure. Get the Blade of Woe, use it at your leisure. Usually smithing gear let you a 25% buff each, but with Necromage it gives you 29%. That's a potential 16% increase in damage. And sneak dagger perk is 15 TIMES damage increase, with brotherhood's gloves it's 30 TIMES! 16 percent damage increase in proportion to that?... I'll let you do the math :D
  • Sneak: Obviously fill EVERYTHING in this tree.
  • Pickpocket: You will have a TON of spare points by the time you reach 40ish. I usually like some points in here so I can take weapons and strip armor. It's optional. Make it one-handed with light armor if you want. But IMO it's not very fun if you intend to stab everything to death.
Forget armor and weapon skills. Role-play a bit. Pick any clothes you want(change clothes for the occasion), since armor unnecessary.

Imagine yourself the perfect predator. Turn invisible at your leisure, stalk your prey, turn them into chickens (Wabbajack ), strip their clothes and weapons and make them fist fight each other naked. Rout your enemies and make them run around to alert other enemies; it's an instant party. Rout animals and lure them into towns. Throw frenzy into camps and watch the chaos unfold. Throw 2 dremoras in the room and close the door. Shoot them with Bound bow from the distance, and when they come over, fus ro dah them off the cliff. Reset traps, put down runes.

All and all, when you get caught, just PUFF and dissapear; leaving your enemies dumbfounded before you strip him naked, set him on fire and slit his throat and have your Dremoras desecrate his corpses and murder his friends.

And that beautiful moment when you're invisible and swimming toward enemy's camp under the night in third person; a silent ripple of water.

And don't worry about dealing damage. At 70-100 Archery, 100 Enchanting, and Vampire Necromage, your Bound Bow is pretty much a Daedric Bow (on Master), and with 100 Smithing and Necromage bonus for Smithing enchantments, your Blade of Woe can take an Ancient dragon down to quarter health with one swipe stealth. The fun part of this build is to screw around with your enemies.

Never are you truly overpowered, and never are you truly underpowered. You're the master of your enemies and your environment.

Also: Maximum Sneak (All perks, 100), and Maximum functional Illusion (All right tree, 100). WIth Shadow Warrior + Invisibility synchronize, you can literally disappear in front of an enemy without having to get out of his line of sight after turning Invisible.

Vampires get a 50+ to all attributes in DG, but I usually keep my magicka at 300 while buffing the rest on health and stamina (should be 400 for each) so I could handle occasional mishaps and lack of stamina regen. Put more into magicka if you want to use some master level spells (or just no-cost it)

Essentially, you're not the cloak and dagger assassin that quickly burn through enemies (that would be boring in the long run, and lack finesses and style). You're more like... the voice in people's head.... the twin torch bug in the night (this is what I call myself when I'm hiding in a tree with my shiny vampire eyes... )... the mischievous shadow ...the walking oblivion gate... the unpredictable force of nature that destroy some and leave some alone... and the occasional arrow from nowhere.

In addition, if you're a vampire with necromage buff, 100 illusion plus all functional illusion perks and dual cast, your Illusion spells would work on literally every living thing (including dragon priests) except dragons.

I second everything k4Anarky said. That is an extremely fun build. My last character was a very similar build and it was a blast.

@K4Anarky: That is one awesome uber-build. I think I'm gonna use that for my next run-through. Thanks for the ideas, dude.

My build is more of a nightblade. I use light armor, sneak and weapons and illusion to assist my weapon kills. Illusion assassin/illusion rogue
