Male or Female character?

Post » Thu Dec 06, 2012 2:38 am

Did you choose a male or female character in this game, and whichever one you picked are you actually the same gender? I'm a bloke and normally I pick male characters when I have the choice, but for this game I decided to go with a female character and make her kickass!

I'm a dude but play female characters on Skyrim. Not for reasons of "Well if I gotta look at the back side of a character all day it might as well be a girl." though thats part of it. I just find it more fun to RP.

I'm male.

Main character now is male, though I've run more female characters overall. First time I played a female was in the very first Tomb Raider game for the PS. Never had a problem with it. Now I find that females can make some good role-playing characters and I can make some interesting back stories for them (like the ones in my sig.).

I'm female and I've played mostly female characters. I've only ever rolled one male character, and that didn't last long (for many reasons, not necessarily related to his six).

In games where you get to choose the six of your hero, I usually play males and females equally, so playing mostly female heroes is new behavior for me.

I'm male and have consistently played male when given the choice in every game that offers that freedom. In fact, I know for sure that every single character I've ever created since release has been strictly male thus far.

I'm female. I don't have a problem playing male characters, but I prefer to play females if I have a choice.

I have four characters in Skyrim, two women and two men. I just started a new playthrough: a woman this time, so that makes three.

I'm female. If I have a choice, I almost always play a female character - first. Then I might play males as well. In Skyrim, I've had three female and one male main character so far, but the man was the one with the shortest playthrough.

My next character will likely be male. I have ideas for at least 8-9 more characters, about half of them male.

I always play with males when i have the choice.
Kinda breaks the immersion for me when my characters are not the same gender.

My very first Skyrim toon was a male wood elf and to this day have no idea why I made it. I like female Khajiit and male Argonians. Skyrim men are pretty bloody ugly so have tended to roll more females.

I'm male and play male characters. Because I play exclusively in first person perspective, it really never occurs to me to consider a female character.

Of course, I can't play beast characters either. Tried a khajiit once but those furry hands holding my sword and prepping my spells was a little more than I could handle ... lol.

I did a female assassin just for the DB but I just couldn't take her seriously, so male it is.

PRIMARY CHARACTERS
First full playthrough:Female Dunmer.
Second and favorite character: Male Imperial
Third, created as change of pace: Male Khajiit

EXPERIMENTAL CHARACTERS
Pure crafter: Female Nord
DiD: Male Redguard

I'd say I pretty much swing both ways. In the game, that is, not IRL.

I'm a guy and I usually play with male characters only, but I might start a new one with a female just to test something new.

Common thread topic. :)

Male, mostly play female characters in games that allow it. Why? The character isn't me, it's an action figure I'm playing with. And if I'm going to play dress-up/with dolls? I'm going to do it with something pretty. :D

(Also, I like http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ActionGirl type characters in movies/TV/books/etc. Like Xena, Buffy, Sydney Bristow, River Tam......)

As for the common "I can't relate to a female character" I've seen in threads before.... honestly, even being a guy? I don't have much in common/relatable with those typical shaved-head, no-neck, steroid-freak male characters that tend to populate games, either.

Male and I play pretty much all females has nothing to do with the oh so original "backside" reason I like to try and RP as something completely opposite of myself, so female it is though with TES the first character is ALWAYS Female Dunmer; Ive loved dark elves since morrowind

I'm male and always play male Argonians, but I've never given gender between characters much thought.. I just play what I play and have fun.

I am a 26 year old male. I only have male characters. I've never made a female in any game. I don't buy games where I have to be a female, ie Tomb Raider, Bayonetta and so forth.

Only time I play as females are in games where there are a mix of protagonists, for example Heavy Rain.

I'm a female, and I play exclusively female characters. I tried making male characters a few times in Oblivion because I liked their bonus to strength best, but I always quit after a few hours because I couldn't relate to my characters or feel any interest in them. I didn't like looking at them in the menu screen, because in first person view I could just pretend my character was female, but the inventory always brought that fantasy crashing down. I really admire and respect gamers who can RP as characters of the opposite gender, or who enjoy playing a wide variety of characters.

I eventually gave up and rolled a female Nord, found that I enjoyed the game much more when I played as my own gender, and since then have only played female characters in both Oblivion and Skyrim.

Oddly enough, in many life-sims (like Harvest Moon) and earlier RPGs, I only play as male characters so that I can court/marry famale NPCs. But since Oblivion doesn't have romace features and Skyrim allows for same-gender pairings, I feel free to play as my own gender. So, when deciding on a character's gender, I suppose that most important factor is how other NPCs will relate to me (ie. will I be forced to choose between either romancing a male character or be locked out of that aspect of game-play) and my second factor is my own gender.

I am a male. I play only female characters. I don't identify with males in real life and I don't identify with males in video games either.

I always play as a male if given the choice. The idea of having a female character has never appealed to me. Though, I often times use female party members if given the option. None of my characters are manly though (Unless I'm roleplaying a beffy warrior or something). I tend to play very metrosixual characters.
