Male Heights

I always thought Nords were supposed to be taller, but it seems like they are the same height as Imperials, Breton's and Red Guards. Is this so or is it just me?

I just looked it up. Nords are only 3% taller than imperials. That's a little surprising.

If you go in 1st person you'll always be the same height, for some reason. Look in 3rd person and unless your game is bugged, you should be pretty tall

@Ji Soo

Well it's just stupid lorewise. Bosmer male are too big, Nords are too short.

I think I'll go install http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=7587.

That's really surprising. Imperial and Bosmer men are supposed to be the little smurfs of Tamriel.

This is quite annoying really, I hope its something that gets patched in the future.
Its a bit silly for my Altmer to be looking out of his nipbles.

I'm not so sure about that. I usually play male nords, but once I played a female Breton. I noticed that I had to keep looking up at different characters.

edit: I tried to test it by switching back and forth between male nord and female breton and bumping into different people. Sometimes I think I notice the difference and sometimes I don't. So probably it was my preconception and 3rd person view that made me think I had to look up at people when I was a female Breton.

That is stupid. It's just weird being a male Altmer talking to a female Breton. You can watch their eyes going from your eyes to your chest when you switch from 3rd to 1st.

I always felt shorter playing my Bosmer when in third person view. But I must say I didn't think it was so bad for my Altmer.

I personally find it annoying because it didn't happen in Oblivion and as an Altmer fan, people often look up to me. I hope it can be fixed!

Sorry to dig up an old post, but I made an Altmer and looking in 3rd person I am taller than most, but looking in 1st person I am shorter than everyone. It's like my nipbles are my eyes.

It's an issue that needs to get to Bethesda HQ. Of course all races should be fixed, but Altmer especially since we are tall :P

Yeah, I have noticed this too.
Since in previous games viewing height was affected by race I hope its a bug.
Perhaps someone with access to the construction kit can check this?

In any case, I hope this is adressed because, really, it takes away one of the joys of being an Altmer and a whole lot of roleplay in general.

I feel that height has a role to play in the Altmer's arrogance and snobbishness in general. Why not, since your entire race towers over everybody else? You can't really feel superior when you are at briast level with Mirabelle Ervine.

Exactly this

I play Altmer 9/10 but I can imagine its equally annoying for Bosmer not to have a lower viewpoint.

One of my favorite Morrowind memories involves http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Ibar-Dad. It is the famous cave with lots of loot and the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Eleidon%27s_Ward.
First two or three playthroughs I was a Dunmer. Then a Nord.
Only when I gravitated back towards being an Altmer, going to that cave for the loot, did I notice up above that brilliant shield all awesome looking. I had missed it before, because of my lower viewpoint.
That. Is. Awesome. Its really gaming heaven.

Its a real shame this simple mechanism that ensures different playstyles/ experiences because of literally different viewpoints is no more.

I wish we could dictate the height of our characters to some extent.

Nords are the third tallest race in the game. Altmer are the tallest and Orsimer are second. The FP camera makes you seem much smaller than you actually are though. Playing in third person you can see your Nord character will be taller than Imperials and most other races.

But if a tall person uses their height well then the small person is screwed. Height is a natural advantage.

It's not the size of the man, but how he is used that counts.
