Map Marker Missing

Post » Sat Nov 03, 2012 1:06 pm

I have run into a small problem. I don't seem to have my current location on the map visible anymore. I am running SKSE with the latest patch from steam. The last time I played, Halloween (10/31) i had the map marker. It seems to be missing with the latest updates. I'm not sure if anyone else is having this problem or if its isolated on my end. The only mod I thought would effect this was IHud, but deactivating didn't solve this.

If you need a list of current mods let me know, but I haven't added any in a bit and the ones I am running are current.

Thanks for the input everyone!!!

I am map markerless as well. No map.swf exists in my Data\Interface override folder.

EDIT: Deactivating all buy Skyrim/Update/Hearthfire/Dawnguard did not work. Hiding the entire Interface folder did not work. Refreshing INIs didn't work.

I have no luck either. I can play without it, but would like to know if anything else is effected before putting time on the game. Btw, I also have Hearthfire aswell. This problem didnt occur until the last update via steam and skse.

I'm attempting a completely naked Skyrim new game right now to see if it's intrinsic. Just the BGS-authored plugins. No loose mesh/texture/script/interface/sound/music files (just renamed folders, not deleted  ). no SKSE. No ENBSeries.

Just gotta get through the cart ride...

EDIT: Aaaaand nope. Bare naked vanilla Skyrim is affected too.

EDIT2: Investigations... The v1.8 Update.bsa appears to have a Map.swf in it. I am going to extract the original Maps.swf from the base Interface and toss it into the Interface loose files to see if that corrects it.

EDIT 3: Interesting... The map from the v1.8 Update.bsa is a good 6kb bigger than the base, 70kb vs 64. Going in-game...

EDIT 4: Aaaand still nothing.

This really puts a crimp on navigation.

All I could suggest at this point is a fresh install.

During the v1.8 beta I was using my old Update esm and bsa files and noticed that my map marker would disappear when I did use them, but whenever I went back to the newer v1.8 Update esm and bsa files the mapmarker would reappear right away. I can't see why you're getting the issue with vanilla Skyrim (no other mod-related BSA files present) unless you don't have all the correct v1.8 files.

Edit: I also assume that the Update.esm is in your load order? If not that might be why.
