I'm playing as a thief and I pickpocketed a Mark of Dibella (little blue gem) of this wealthy looking guy at the Bee and Barb in Riften. I figured him to be rich so I'd steal from him, and this gem sounded like a nice catch.

I find out afterwards, when I get to Haelga's bunkhouse, that there is this girl, Svana, who mentions these marks. However, when talking to her I only get the dialogue option to ask if she likes working there.

Everytime I walk past her though she says stuff like "Try to get those marks without bloodshed" or some such. But for the life of me, I can't get the quest started.

However, I went all the way anyways and I pickpocketed all 3 Mark of Dibella from the different characters that carried them, thinking maybe I'd get to turn them in... but no dice.

Also, I can't drop the Marks, or put them in a container since they are quest items.

So... what can I do? Or is this quest permanently bugged now due to me pickpocketting a Mark before I got the actual quest?

Hmmm. Have you tried talking to the woman who gave out the marks? Guessing her name is Haelga, but not sure. I did the quest and I had to confront her with the marks, not just go to Svana with them. That might help I suppose.

Oh, didn't try talking to Haelga. Only robbed her of her Jar of Honey

I'll try that, thanks for the tip. (Never got a quest from Haelga though, but not tried talking after I got all 3 marks).

You may have to complete som prequests involving Haelga. I belive there is a Thieves guild quest where you extort her by stealing the Statue of Dibella. That's when Svana told me of Haelga's -- interesst in men, and her giving away these marks.

Nope, i did the mark of dibella quest before the statue quest.

Yeah I done the Thieves guild quest already. I stole the mark way before that though.

Still no dialogue option, but in the middle of the final thieves guild quest now so I'll post if it works to talk to Haelga once I get back to Riften. (These damnable crashes to desktop really frustrate me though).

Went back to Riften, talked to Haelga... then quest worked. Gave her the marks, then talked to Svana and case closed.

Oh, found out you can marry Svana too
