Marriage - Disappointment

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 10:37 pm

So there are 62 potential marriage partners in Skyrim. Out of the 10 races, 8 can marry the same race, the other 2 cannot marry their same race : Khajiit & Bosmer. This is because there are no Khajiit & Bosmer NPCs that can be married in the game. I am disappointed in this because out of 62 NPCs, I would expected them to find space for Khajiit & Bosmer marriages...

Had a thread about this last night, and I agree. I mean there are 29 Nord options. They could not have taken 2-5 of those Nords and made a few Khajiit and Bosmer options.

Tittle kind of reminds me of real life :) Not really, my wife let me play Skyrim _all weekend_ (plus Friday), and I didn't have to do any honey-do's.

That's what they need to build into TES6

Khajiit got screwed in this game. That's why I'm playing a Nord. The developers obviously wanted us to play Nords.

1. No hand 2 hand for Khajiit monks/boxers like J'Ghasta.
2. x4 Hand to hand bouns for Khajiit's but "But remember that unarmed combat isn't a skill, doesn't give you skill uses, and won't help you level up. Most of the time it only comes into play in the occasional brawl. But if you're a dedicated role-player who really wants to box your way through Skyrim, well, this is the ability for you."
3. Couldn't make an all black Khajiit... wtf is that
4. Khajiit's aren't allowed to marry their own.

Pfft, if you want disappointment about the marriage system, then be disappointed you can't be wed to the busty vixens that serve your mead.

I think my wife was killed on a mission with me. She's not at her house anymore nor at her usual spot in the tavern. (Uthgerd in Whiterun) Can your spouse die in the game or did this just glitch out. I've been wearing the amulet again and the extra dialog is not showing up with any of the other potential wives.

The whole marriage thing is weak.

You hire a mercenary and (s)he's like: "Uhm, so what, wanny marry or something?"

Is this how you, dear people at Bethesda, met your spouses? Wow. Or was it just very convenient because companions are already, well, companions anyways?

There's really no "content" for the marriages at all, but gameplaywise, I like that you get a shop where you can sell anything and it even brings a little money now and then.

Yeah, I was expecting somthing more than "HEY WANNA GET MARRIED? OKAY LETS DO IT RIGHT NOW"

It's why i didn't want it in the game in the first place. If you can't do it right, don't do it at all.

I'll be skipping anything marriage related in game.

Yeah, for so many options any race other than Nord is really a small percentage (or not one at all). Still, the marriage system in general is a light touch to the game so it's not too bad for me I suppose.

Hopefully, this is something they can build on for the next game. Add more interaction, actual courting, and romance. It can be done, dare I say that Beth may even want to take a few notes ( not too much) from Bioware.

@Khajit and Argonian people

"For it is a mad world and it will get madder if we allow the minorities, be they dwarf or giant, orangutan or dolphin, nuclear-head or water-conversationalist, pro-computerologist or Neo-Luddite, simpleton or sage, to interfere with aesthetics. The real world is the playing ground for each and every group, to make or unmake laws. But the tip of the nose of my book or stories or poems is where their rights end and my territorial imperatives begin, run and rule."

And here I thought this was going to be one of those "and marriage in the game is disappointing too..." threads.
