Married Lydia...

Post » Tue Aug 07, 2012 10:28 am

And moved to Solitude. Figured she could hang with Jordis and talk about girl stuff all day. I've noticed that she has taken to drinking instead of eating bread. Really? AND, the coup de grace is she sleeps in Jordis's room instead of "ours". Yes, strong Nord women, etc.

I realize there are several glitches going on here. One is Jordis's room, which never respawned as furnished. I feel bad about that. And then there is the whole "housecarl" programming that seems to conflict with the newly married programming. I get the "my love" comments as well as "my thane" comments..

Lydia has all of the married phrases about shop and making dinner, etc. But... no "lover's confort" benefits. I realize I'm on the road alot, protecting the holds and generally being the savior of Tamriel.... but c'mon.

Anyone else have this issue?

Can't help you with the other things, but regarding Lover's Comfort: you have to activate it by sleeping in your spouse's home first. Which, in Lydia's case is Breezehome (since this is where she lived prior to your marriage, even though it's technically your house... Stupid, I know).

So, tell her to move to her place, go to Breezehome, make sure she's in the house (she doesn't need to sleep), go to sleep for a few hours. Now you should wake up with the Lover's Comfort active - sometimes you don't get a message on the screen, but it should be under "Active Effects".

Once you have it, you can move anywhere, and as long as your spouse is in the same cell as you when you sleep (even when travelling), you get the bonus.

If you're a werewolf, does that cancel lover's comfort? I never bothered trying to get lover's comfort while I was.

That's right, you don't get any sleeping bonuses if you're a werewolf.
I don't know what happens if you marry a werewolf, though. I had no problems with Vilkas, but I cured both him and my character before the wedding, so...
