With spoilers very much rampant make sure to put them in a spoiler to not ruin the game for people. The spoiler tags can be used like so [spoiler r] and the matching tag would be [ / spoiler] with no spaces and removing the extra r in the first tag. Below is an example spoiler.

ALSO - In respect to povuholo, as well as the players who are reading thorough our thread, trying to avoid the details of the ending, a thread specifically for the endings has been created. http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1361223-mass-effect-3-ending-discussion-thread-3-spoilers/. In light of this, it would be greatly appreciated that you do not post discussion of the ending to Mass Effect 3's ending here.

Thread Rules:
  • This is an ongoing topic for discussion about Mass Effect series, so keep the discussion on the games.
  • It is understandable if you don't like Mass Effect games. We have no problem with you sharing this, but this is an ongoing topic. As such, it is primarily based on the positive aspects of the games, so if you don't like them don't post.
  • This is an ongoing discussion and some people don't like Mass Effect games. If you try to provoke them it is just as bad. If you do disagree with someone, please don't drag it into a fight. This topic is primarily for what we like about the games and our ongoing experiences.
  • Respect forum rules. If you are unclear review them here.
  • Respect for other forum members is perhaps the most important. We all have opinions and we are all human beings. Treat each other with respect.

Aye, the dream sequences were one of the best parts of the game. Especially the first time, where I intentionally let a lot of people die. It was a nice add to my usual Renegade Shepard, who was always tough, always uncompromising, stomping on people's faces if it got her to see tomorrow. The Butcher of Torfan, the exterminator of Rachni, the hangman of the Krogan, gunning down friend after friend when they get in her way.

I really couldn't play as a renegade. Seeing a video of that sequence with Legion was just painful to watch. :(

The announcement is supposed to be sometime this month, possibly at PAX. The ending itself... who knows? In some ways, the later the better, as a reworked ending would mean getting hold of many of the voice actors again.

Don't think it's been confirmed thats what it is....has it? All they've said is they have news. Could well be Hudson coming out and chucking N7 hoodies into the crowd knowing Bioware/EA ;)

I believe they said DLC would clarify the ending - not change it. So the ending you got is still canon.

I don't really want to get into the end here but

Spoiler
I guess they could still do the indoctrination ending...That could certainly be considered clarifying it....

Do some multiplayer maps spawn more often then others? I hardly ever get Reactor, or Glacier. Also, why are they all called Firebase?

Unknown at the current moment. Some rumors of it being based on player usage, although I would like to meet people who actually wanted Dagger over Glacier...

Dagger spawns too much.

Soldier is my least favorite in MP.

Geth Plasma Shotgun FTW.

Geth Primes are wack.

So I've abandoned my soldier playthrough for now. He just doesn't have enough abilities to help him survive on Insanity, so I'm trying an Adept instead. I'm hoping since Adept owns so hard in MP, hopefully it'll carry over to the SP.

Only thing that bugs me about Soldier in MP is when the ammo boxes don't refill your grenades. Still haven't figured out a pattern to it. Definitely don't bother upgrading to 3 grenades anymore, since it usually didn't refill all the way.

(My soldiers usually keep a reasonably light load, so I can concussion or adrenaline often. Mattock & Predator for most of them, Geth Pulse Rifle for my Krogan - gives him 200% recharge for Carnage spam.)

Whenever i'm playing as my soldier (against geth especially) I just spam concussive shot. Every 1-1.5 seconds i do it. Concussive shot, enemy staggers, concussive shot, enemy staggers, etc. I took on a Geth Pyro mono e mono doing that and it didn't scratch me.

I've found that sometimes ammo boxes don't even restore your ammo like they're supposed to. I've been forced to use a thermal clip pack more than a few times because of this. I guess it's not too bad since I have like 60 of the things, but it's still annoying.

Wow. That svcks. Do the guys at BW get some kicks from pissing off their customers?
I can hope they do something about the biggest annoyances:
Spoiler
- Mass relays blowing up with no collateral damage
- Your LI magically teleporting to Normandy - which is at Earth's orbit at the moment - with no explanation.
- Normandy running away from more or less harmless color burst, most likely using Mass Relays, which explode at a much faster pace than Normandy can fly.
- Helping anyone in Citadel is absolutely useless since they all die. There is no point in doing anything in the Citadel since it will be for nothing.

EA/Bioware, what I think we have http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/355/index/10935247/1 is a http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaZmdZACMNo

Edit
The only good thing if that article is true is the ending DLC will be free. At least we didn't let them completely crash the ending into the ground at the speed of light. Who knows, they might mitigate the damage of the ending. Though I doubt it. If this is how it ends then there will be quite the final show before people move on.

Damn... if that's true, then it seems that the chances for Indoctrination Theory are down. But still not impossible. But damn, Bioware, you had a golden ticket. If they don't take it, they just blew the potential for the greatest writing and story twist ever. Damn...

Agreed. Mass Effect was, in my opinion, rapidly becoming the best story I've ever read, but BioWare totally blew it up here.

What I don't understand is why they're digging their heels in so much: it's not that big a deal to admit that they screwed up, but to be so immovable makes no sense. Is it simply down to a staggering case of hubris? EA telling them there's no budget to finish things off properly? Some other reason? I just don't get it.

They dont care their watching the take up on multiplayer if thats looking good, then thats all they care about, otherwise they wouldnt make changes to the game in the last 3 months, obviously its important. But since the single player is over why should they care, because people are still playing multiplayer.

I suppose that does make sense. They do seem to be trying to force-feed their customers multiplayer stuff; I guess it's the best option for the sort of ongoing payments that many software houses consider to be their "holy grail", so I shouldn't be surprised. If this is the case, I guess it vindicates those who worried that MP was going to undermine the SP part of the game; and since I have no interest in MP, I guess I'll be unlikely to be interested in wherever this new direction takes them.

I do think they could still include the indoctrination theory. Maybe I'm just being overly hopeful....who knows. The fact that Shepard didn't experience the events as we saw them but they were in his/her head could be considered clarification. I don't want them to change it tbh - they've written their story and whether it's good or crap, it's their story. We just have to watch really. But I would like something that sheds light on what happens afterwards - even if it's just an indication and not outright answers...

I think the definition of "their" varies somewhat; it does seem to deviate completely from Drew Karpyshyn's original vision, and story has it that Casey Hudson and Mac Walters wrote the ending with zero input from the rest of the team, which if nothing else explains why the ending has a completely different "feel" to the rest of the series. I think as it stands, I can't really see it as a true, canonical part of the story: I guess I can accept it as indoctrination or unconsciousness, but if they were supposed to be actual events, regardless of the fact that most of the ending's a complete non-sequitur, it just doesn't fit. Anyway, I think I'm also similarly hopeful, even though I'm increasingly thinking that my hope is a bit futile...
