Matchmaking Tournaments?

Post » Thu May 12, 2011 7:00 pm

Will S.D. open matchmaking tournaments and reward the winners with special unique items not found within game? For example on MGO they had tournaments for people to log in with and play against each other, if these contestants were to win they were rewarded special items that were not within the game but only through winning the tournaments (with the Dev's overlooking). Would you like to see them and give feedback on your answers.

Valve claimed to provide in-game medals for participants, bronze, silver, and gold winners for the European Team Fortress 2 League Highlander Community Challenge.

I would like to see this in Brink. But keep it to cosmetic items. No weapons, that would be entirely out of order.

By the way, for any non-TF2 players Highlander is 9v9, one of each of the 9 classes per team.

As long as it was just customizable stuff like clothes, weapon skins or stuff like that I think it would be cool

On MGO they were all just items (cosmetics) no weapons or gave additional boosts.

It would be cool if all participants got items, and the higher up you went the better the item you got was.

Finish last, get a wrist chain or something, next tier up, pants, next tier a jacket, top tier, weapon re-skins, tattoo's, the real nice stuff.

''Participation Award''
- The Badge (Security Chest Top-Layer)

''Winning Team Award''
- The Founder Suit (Security Chest Top-Layer)
- The Founder Shirt (Security Pants)
- The Founder Suit-pants (Security Chest Under-Layer)

Something like that? I wouldn't mind this at all - but then.. Is it online, or is it at some LAN party?

If anything they can make it for both Online and Offline, for Online it would be PvP, for Offline it would be almost like Mortal Kombat where you ascend up a ladder or in this case "The Tower" found on the ARK. They can even go as far as having an ELITE section for past tournament champions to face off and receive even greater looking items. All they would need to do is just update it like patches. If anything this will definetely prolong the game's longevity. :grad:

If there was to be some tournament thing for BRINK I guess and I want it to be Online only, would not make much sense to have it being Offline, I mean.. You are facing bots, and eventually they can get predictable to some point

But yeah, that's nice - They could call it ''The Tower'' and see where the teams/players are on the ranking board :P

I think we/you might be onto something, Lightning V!

Maybe you should try to promote this idea to Splash Damage after BRINK is out? Or maybe even now?

If worse comes to worse they can just make the BOTS harder for Offline users through difficulty levels like the hardest level would be called "BRINK"-a crucial or critical point, especially of a situation or state beyond which success or catastrophe occurs: We were on the brink of war.

I would love to see them have tournaments and competitions with prizes involved. Definitely not any kind of weapons as a prize but maybe skins for weapons, unique equipment (ex. hats, tattoos, shirts ect.), Autographed Brink posters ect.

Help get their attention on this guys! If they do consider this, then this can be a very rewarding outcome marketebly for both S.D./ Besthesda and as well as contributing to the community & gamers.

Yeah, no unique weapons, but in-game content like skins - like you said :P

Hosting online tournaments is probably also easier for them and everyone else to be able to attend, rewarding in-game content code is also cheaper/easier than real hard content, so.. Yeah, it sounds nice :P

And if you had to register your adress, why not posters and other lightweight goods - but I would rather have in-game content over posters :P

But not now, for now I have to go

*Would be nice if they considered this, since they have said they would continue to support BRINK for a while, and this, everyone - is support :P

Yea nothing game changing like weapons what could off balance the entire game. It be amazing if they setup tournaments once a month or every weekend with small unique prizes to the winners. This would compliment the unique and individualized aspects of Brink making characters even more unique and stand apart. Also the winners from the previous ones would have to sit out the next tournament to give others a chance at winning don't you think?

As far as rather having in-game content over actual physical content I don't know about that they passed out some pretty sick posters, t-shirts ect. Would be awesome to get a Brink T-shirt or book of concept art :celebration:

I just saw you made a thread on the Splash board, good - we're one step ahead :P

EDIT: Okay, I just did 3 P smilies, this calls for a forth one p:
