Matt Firor Gamescon Interview (haven't seen this)

Post » Mon Aug 26, 2013 4:00 pm

Haven't seen this one posted, so apologies if I missed it.

Interesting tid bits:

1) Of the 16 dungeons, only the instanced dungeons have a master version, so there are 8. The other 8 are public dungeons.

2) Master dungeons will have an adjustable difficulty level (pretty cool idea I think, as long as it affects the loot you get.)

3) Its going to be hard to tell what kind of opponent you are facing in PvP until the fight actually starts (seems obvious with the open class system.)

4) Plus the secret awesome piece of information that you get only from this interview: the game has servers.

Yes I like the idea of adjusting the difficulty of the Master Dungeons. Will give them a ton of replayability to them.

Nah. He specifically says there are 16 dungeons in the game. 2 per zone. Each zone has one public dungeon and one instanced/story dungeon. The story dungeons have an alternate version that unlocks at level 50. So there are 8 master dungeons.

The bit about the servers was a joke. You'd have to watch the video.

Would also be better if their dungeons were scalable based on how many people were inside. In their solo, everything is scaled down to solo, go in there for a billion people everything scales for 1 billion people.

I believe there are 16 instanced dungeons one instanced dungeon with one public dungeon in each zone. Each alliance has more than one zone. To make it even there has to be 4 zones in each alliance each with their own dungeon and 4 dungeons in Cyrodiil.

16 instanced dungeons? You're someone I trust, but listen to what Firor says here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cwsc_VknApg&t=8m15s

"So...as you level there are at least two dungeons in every zone. So there's maybe 16. Each of those...half of those are public and half are instanced. And all of the instanced ones become endgame dungeons later.

With a story line that you did for the dungeon when you were low level...you come back and the story continues....you can set difficulty levels."

I could be wrong about the ones in Cyrodiil but by my math there should be about 4 instanced dungeons per faction. I think he was seriously under counting the amount of dungeons in the game.

Edit: It does sound like he stated there where only 16 dungeons but I'm holding out hope for more.

Amazing, Matt Firor said that they are trying to coin a new name for this type of game called Online RPG. I LOVE IT.

5 zones per faction + Cyrodiil as 1 zone are already 16 zones. So 2 per zone would m ean 32 dungeons (instanced and public)

We have known that there is at least one 4-player dungeon per zone for a while now: http://massively.joystiq.com/2013/03/19/the-elder-scrolls-online-interview-paul-sage/

"There is a four-player dungeon in each of the game's 16 zones; most dungeons boast a second level 50 version with a different storyline"

I think that's what Firor wanted to say. The interviewer specifically asked about the dungeons at end-game, which are the four-player level 50 dungeons, not the public ones.
