Maximizing Unarmed Damage

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 1:10 pm

See if this sounds right:

4 - Base Unarmed damage
15 - Khajiit Bonus
20 - Ring of the Beast Bonus
10 - Enchantment lifted from Gloves of the Pugilist
46 - Base AR of Dawnguard Heavy Gauntlets doubled with Fists of Steel
___
95 - Total Unarmed Damage

It is entirely possible my numbers are completely wrong.

What gauntlets do you use?

As of now? None, this is entirely theoretical. According to the UESP, Dawnguard Heavy are 23 base.

You can get a higher armor value on your gloves.

If you use Legendary Deadric you will do as much damage as a warhammer I reckon :D

I don't think Smithing improvements factor in.

Improvements don't factor in. It's all base armor rating.

Ring of the beast is only for claw attacks in Vampire Lord form, I'm pretty sure.

Also, if you're a necromage vampire and then take fists of steel you'll do more damage.

No problem. Just clarifying things. I didn't want someone to go max out their smithing and make some new gloves only to find out they didn't do a huge boost in damage.

Various wikis seem to indicate it works on all Unarmed attacks. A bug, perhaps?

Just tested it, and yea it does seem to increase unarmed damage when not in Vampire lord form.

Whether this is intended or not is a different question though.

I wonder if it applies to non VL characters as the wiki implies? Thank you for testing, btw.

Well, for full optimism, I'd use the Enchanting/Alchemy/Smithing/Necromage loop to craft insanely powerful daedric gauntlets and then enchant them with the pugilist boost.
Add that nice +15 boost with Khajits and there you go. You could probably one hit most things.

Edit: Oops, just seen that improvements don't factor in. Oh well, at least you could enchant them highly with the Pugilist enchantment.

That is more Damage than most swords. It also saves you from wasting perks on combat skills. I might try this. It seems like a fun play style.

Using the alchemy/smithing/enchanting loop...along with the gloves of the pugilist enchantment I was able to make a pair of legendary daedric gauntlets that deal over 29,000,000 damage...I don't ever use en but they were fun to play with for a bit. Lol

At the very least you could always turn the game difficulty to a level where unarmed is acceptable. Could make for a fun playthrough. The finishers are some of the best in the game. No idea why they didn't make it complete with a perk tree and some better gear. I would have loved to give that a try.

I have a ridiculously overpowered set of gauntlets for unarmed that I use when I feel like messing around using the restoration potion glitch. I gave a pair to Serana and she became 20x hotter running around beating the [censored] out of everything. She just 1 hits everything so she even gets the hilarious unarmed animations sometimes. It's great seeing Serana supplexing people.

Go up the unarmed tree all the way to the end and grab the perk that lets you enchant your fists, of course.

That and grab the heaviest pair of gauntlets you can find with the heavy armor perk.

Your close but off on nearly everyline but its not your fault as the game presents inaccurate information in a few places
See if this sounds right:

4 - Base Unarmed damage 10 Base Unarmed Damage, both Argonians and Khajiit have this.
15 - Khajiit Bonus 12 Khajiit Bonus, the active effects lie.
20 - Ring of the Beast Bonus
12 - Enchantment lifted from Gloves of the Pugilist the enchantment goes up to 12 not counting fortify enchanting
16 - Base AR of Dawnguard Heavy Gauntlets doubled with Fists of Steel base AR assumes an armor skill of 0, daedric would be two more points of damage.
___
70 - Total Unarmed Damage

The funny thing is most of this can be acquired with very little leveling up. A level one Khajiit could punch his way through the Helgan then head to Riften to grab the gloves of the pugilist, even grabbing the ring of the beast may be possible with a minimal amount of leveling up.
