Mega server lacks a hearty stable community

Post » Fri Mar 15, 2013 1:19 pm

The true fact of a mega server is this : Mega server = Many servers.

1 server contains other servers again that have people on them but it's not steady, you can go to Riverwood the other day and be on server 1, next day you might be on server 8.
So in other words, it removes your choice to chose a community, you can chose friends but not a community as in outside a guild.

Imagine 1 mega server for World of Warcraft.
You walk into Stormwind City, you will be on server (Sylvanas) and the other day you walk into Stormwind City you will be on server (Argent Dawn).
Get my drift here?

1 mega server is only a way to remove your choice of a consitent server.
The idea "sounds nice" but its' not.

I think you're overlooking the fact that you are placed with people of a similar play style and remain there until you move yourself.

If you look at www.ArgentArchives.org
That is a role playing portal for the Argent Dawn realm (server) community.

So if someone that would want to watch those events accour on their server, that would not be possible and limited on how many could be in same group or raid, just to be at the same place at the same time as the place A is in fact a instance\server\randomness.

It's almost like joining a LFR or Random Dungeon in World of Warcraft, just you do it everytime you enter a new city\town\place as it changes from "Riverwood 0001" "Riverwood 0002" etc.

Pretty sure that you will normally in PvE see the people that belong to your same campaign if you were PvPing. You are tied to the same campaign as other people are every time you enter PvP, unless you use currency to join another campaign for good. At least, I hope this is how it works. Also, you build a friends and guild list. The game automatically prioritizes you into the shards that your friends and guilds belong to.

Write what?
Everyone come to Riverwood and chose server 0001 to join for role playing event?
And how many can join server 0001?

This is just how Age of Conan was.
You get into a place and it was a lobby room server, max numbers was 50ish?

I've played and RPed on Argent Dawn.
There is very little RP at all.

I fail to see the point you are making. If making an event it is not hard to say "We're meeting at the park" and then add "RP channel" at the end of it on a forum post. As a matter of fact I guarantee you'll see so many more RPers than you've ever seen that it'll make your head spin.

A flaw I can pick out is what you've said yourself, it would not be possible to see random RP happening on another channel. The problem in that logic is that it's *worse* in games with hard server locks that you can't switch. What if I'm on Argent Dawn missing amazing RP on Moonguard? I'll never know, and I'll never see it. Even if I did, I lack a character. You're really boned there, because you couldn't switch a button to change instantly.

Also, what if there's only *1* or *2* RP channels? We don't know how many there will be, but it probably won't be as debilitating as you're making it sound.

No, write anything you want. Lots of people will see it. There will not ever be a shortage of people to talk with, because everyone is on the same server. Seriously, you are being paranoid and freaking out about something that hasn't even happened yet. This is something we won't even know until the first two months. Take a chill pill and come back after launch with this.

Imagine how much spam of junk you will get on that chat. Trolls, gold sellers, etc.
I don't believe in bringing a community together over a Barrens chat.

Stop being so defensive about this game, I say my opinion, don't need to be so dramtic calling me paranoid and freakish.

If it's anything like needless paranoia and hate on the game like certain threads in this forum, we're in for a trip indeed.

I feel like you've made up your mind and will defy logic to make people dislike this game.
