"MentalHealth.gov" link at the bottom of the forum

Post » Tue Jul 02, 2013 11:23 am

Someone http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1465087-report-xboxs-don-mattrick-leaving-microsoft/?p=22809466 in a thread about a "mental health thing" at the bottom of the forum.

I don't see anything of the like. Switching between skins, logged on and off, switching sub forums...I still don't see it.

Curious, I ask one of the members over Steam to send me a screenie just so I know I am not being trolled or going crazy.

I ask a couple other members over Steam and they see it too.

So I ask: Do you see it or not? Vote in the poll.

Also, why is it there? Why am I, and assuming some others, not see it?

I just noticed that today. It was probably added in response to all the threads of people asking for advice and ranting about life.

And wasn't there at least one forum member who has committed suicide after stating their intent right here on the forum?

That was my first thought, until the other friends over Steam told me they see it. I have been talking to them on the forums, Skype, and Steam for a year and a half and they never showed any "mental health" signs at all.

Maybe it's there because of those suicidal threads that show up once in a blue moon?

...Yes, but lets not discuss it for the sake of privacy.

I see it. Not sure why it's there.

Originally I thought it was being shown based on geographic locations (obviously a British user has little use for a link to an American government agency), but clearly this isn't the case. Maybe it's based off of age (I just turned 22 a few days ago...?) or perhaps activity level. My schedule can be really wonky so I could post at almost any time of the day, which might make people (or more likely a computer program) watching my activity think that I'm depressed.

I dunno. Baseless and almost certainly incorrect speculation.

I have a theory... Maybe it's the beginning of 1984?

That's what I'm figuring. If they have it it might because they have been "flagged" for saying something.

I don't remember who it was anyway, I just vaguely remember that happening.

And now that mental health thing has disappeared in the time between my last post and this one... weird.

I don't see it, I wonder if Adblock is covering it up or something . . .

Edit: Disabled Adblock and still don't see anything.

I see it too, and I'm in the UK, and use AdBlock. I guess it could be something like the caching issues that've plagued avatar updates in the past.

What in the wide world is going on?

Hopefully, it is not something disguised as a federal website, meant to attack the user's account or the forums.

I dont see it either.

Maybe it's region specific? Or some ad crap brought in with some specific program that lots of people would have, like I Tunes or something along those lines.

I don't think so. It is an actual site for helping those with depression or PTSD, etc.

I cleared my chache and cookies and it disappeared. Then looked on the website again and it didn't show up.

I'm guessing there might be keywords that trigger it like "suicide".

Edit: Yep, I'm sure that is it because it popped up agaib after putting in suicide.

Nope. Nothin'.

Must of been a coincidence, wombat

But really, I got nothing still. I even refreshed, switched threads, etc.

And just for the record, if it seems I am making a big deal out of this I am sorry but something this suspicious pops up needs some explaining. I sent a PM to a mod about it.
