Menu Selections with Mouse

Post » Sat May 19, 2012 6:08 pm

The menus work fantastic using the wasd keys to navigate, but using the mouse to pick an option is hit or miss it seems. This happens for dialog responses also. Most of the time I click on the response I want, but it clicks another one. To get it to work right, I really have to do some mouse hovering/scrolling, W/S up or down the list to be able to select it properly with the mouse.

I'm sure this is a PC port issue. It makes perfect since when using an XBox controller, but svcks with the mouse.

Anyone hating this problem and know of a fix out now?

I also have this problem. I'm constantly clicking the wrong thing, either choosing a different option or somehow exiting completely (especially when i'm bartering). I've ended up starting to use only the keyboard when in the menu since the mouse is so erratic.

Also getting this. Can't select different options in any menu without scrolling to it first. Mouse hover doesn't work.

Have you unchecked the "Xbox 360 Controller" setting? If not, do that. It's located in Settings->Gameplay. It's not perfect, but it sure eliminates a lot of headaches in the UI. It doesn't always work right away after you exit reading a book from your inventory.

I have the same problem, and I disabled the XBOX 360 Controller before I ever played the game. Sometimes while visiting a Merchant I'll click "Misc" to see items they sell and it simply exits the merchant menu. Other times I'm hovering the mouse over a dialogue option and it selects something else. It'll do it repeatedly too. I've found to fix it I have to use the WASD keys to move up/down and select the right option and THEN click it.

There's definitely a bug in how it handles recognizing which options you're clicking.

Yeah, it's not perfect, but you have to click right-of-center of the option. If you click too far left, it exits the menu. It is a problem, but it can be avoided for now with being careful with where you click.

Have the same problem. It's really annoying and it's no doubt an issue due to this being a console port. It's bad enough that this Creation Engine Skyrim is built on is subpar compared to just about every other engine for 2011 but to have UI bugs like this is just pathetic. I expected far more from Bethesda. I mean, I expected low res textures, limited draw distance, and even the game not being very optimized but as thing's stand it's just stupid. My fps is being limited when my cpu is only at 40%, gpu is at 50%, Vram has 400mb free, and my Ram has 6gb free. This engine is really bad, and will limit what people can do with mods. I frankly have trouble believing how bad it is. I suppose what's get me the most is that the biggest problem is the engine having such an enormous performance bottleneck. Low res texture, bad shadowing, etc could be modded out but with an engine so terrible in utilizing hardware there's no real room to mod those types of things in. In short, the problem here can't be fixed by modders. Bethesda [censored] on us with a console port and then [censored] on modders with an engine which will limit what they can mod. They've kept what could've been the best experience for both 2011 & 2012 on the PC to simply a well-crafted story with flawed combat, subpar animations...just, ffs Bethesda, I didn't expect you to make a serious effort on the PC version of every title or even some of the titles you produce, I just expected it for TES. Is it so much to ask to produce a title that will shine on the PC once every 5-6yrs?
