Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

Post » Fri Jun 07, 2013 4:31 am

So Metal Gear Solid 5 has been announced and omg the trailer looks freaking awesome and yes weird at the same time but hey you get to play as Big Boss again which is doubled the "you have to get it seriously" score now just a recap back in 2012 Hideo Kojima showed us Ground Zeroes and right before the end of the year at the Spike Video Game Awards a random game trailer called the Phantom Pain was shown leaving all of us to speculate or just flat out call it the next metal gear game fast forwarding it to this past week it has been confirmed that it's called MGS5: The Phantom Pain but it leaves a question that was quickly answered: "Is ground zeroes and Phantom pain the samething?" which Konami replied: "Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain are two different games" the only 50/50 issue about this game is that David Hayter who voiced Solid Snake and Big Boss won't be returning as the voice of Big Boss in this upcoming game

what are your opinions of this matter?

I look forward to it. Hopefully the whole Hayter not being involved thing is just another attempt at drawing attention to it.

Like I said in the other thread, maybe hayter will be used for solid snake only in the future to make things less confusing if both characters are in the same game.

As long as the new voice actor is close to the original awesome if not then that will be disappointing.
But hey its a new Metal Gear, its one of my all time favorite series.

Overeaction.
Hayter is known for voicing Snake, Bigboss IS not snake.

Gonna buy it regardless of who voice acts snake. Metal Gear Solid games have great characters and awesome stories. And they basically already said who its gonna be, and its gonna be the guy who voice acted big boss in MGSIV. On the other thread about MGSV, somebody had a post that linked to a vid with Keihley in it. The word choice he used to explain it would suggest Doyle voice acting snake.

Also, if you are a fan of the franchise. You can stop lying to yourself that you won't buy the game if Hayter isn't in it. I can see through your protests, and your belief is if you make your voice loud enough that there will be change. But regardless, you will be buying the game. I have said it in the other thread and will say it here, Hayter is not the reason MGS is a well known franchise. Its because of the characters and story.

i agree about the whole difference in the characters i believe that David Hayter should be Solid Snake only and not be Big Boss idk why they have him as Big Boss in MGS 3 maybe they just ran out of time and said "Okay let's have Hayter voice Big Boss and we can take the bullets later on"

This is what I was thinking, I see Hayter as solid snake not Big Boss.

Richard Doyle did the voice for Big Boss in MGS4 no one was outraged then. This isn't the Snake Eater era Snake, this is Big Boss.

Wait, the name of the game is seriously, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain?

So, does it take place in a nursing home? The Phantom Pain? 'Oh, nurse...my back hurts. I think I need a backyotomy. Where's my cane?'

The only thing I know about this game is that there is a fire unicorn and an old guy whom I'm guessing is the hero in a hospital? I might have to check this game out. It's got fire, unicorns with wings and an old guy with an eye patch. I'm sorry, I haven't played an MG game since the first one, and I never beat it. Forgive me for not knowing what the game is about and the lore. But you have to admit, given some of the visuals it does kind of scream, "Metal Gear Solid 5: Nursing Home War!!"

Yeah, I didn't get it. Which I also said in my above post. I even Googled it after making my post and read through a bunch of links and I'm still confused. I just think the name is terrible.

Then I recommend you pick up the HD collection.
That's all you need to understand the story...while at least the Phantom Pains story.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! http://ign.com/articles/2013/06/06/kiefer-sutherland-playing-snake-in-metal-gear-solid-v

I didn't think anybody could replace Hayter, but this is the best choice!

I'm not really sure how I feel about Kiefer Sutherland being the new voice actor.

I couldn't care less who voices Snake, but I does leave a small sour taste having 24-guy as Snake. I just dislike 24. I hope he does his job well enough so I forget that the new Snake is 24-guy.

I love you, man. You're such a character. Anyways, Sutherland is amazing. He was great in 24 and in Touch and seems like an overall good guy. Not sure what to think of him as Snake though. Will need to hear a few voice reels.
