MGE Screenshot thread #4

Sorry for the late response. I was working on something:
shadow testing
I am a man of my word. wink.gif

Is it just me, or is something missing? :P

Looks nice, though. If you took a tiling texture and projected it, then animated it, you could get infinitely moving cloud shadows... Is that what you're doing?

The input is I'm manually reading a custom cloud texture from the shader. And [censored] skies change rapidly. There is mod for weather control, I should use it.

Yeah, that is what I want. But it is almost impossible. The texture is tiling and projected properly(somewhat, I don't know how I did it!). It is even animated into some extend(sun opacity and sun angle work OK!). But they don't scroll. I don't know how I can do it, I never get tickcounts to behave my timings.

Funny thing is only cloudy skies has openings that can cast shadows. So I can make it work only for one texture. Other than that MGE can pass a variable that holds weather type. (I want game time variable a lot.)

For guessers, it is based on caustics work by phal.

Cool shots Vtastek =) It's interesting to see some real emotion =) There is something lacking in their eyes tho. Kind of bland, maybe a nicer texture could fix it.

Sure that's not Oblivion you're playing? :-P Man, Morrowind is going to be looking swell when MGE gets SSAO and all that jazz added into it.

That's the plan for future versions? Would there be any difference compared to using the SSAO shader that's available now?

Those pesky vegetation mages have been hard at work it seems. Either that or the Bitter Coast has a serious problem with invasive plants.

Cool idea. I'd say the pixel shaded water in vanilla Morrowind still looks good, though. :-)

Nice shots!

The depth of field looks a little heavy on a few of those, but I like the comparisons.

Bethesda, have fun playing our game. :P

Yes, it has been a wonderful Eight Years, god knows what Morrowind will look like in another 8 years, if it looks like this now...

I hope it'll look how it looks now because we'll have a new TES that is as good as Morrowind (if that's possible) to mess with o/

Awesome screens though :)

Man these screen shots look amazing.

Maybe I should give morrowind modded another shot. Just to walk around.

What threads should I be following?

Last time I checked, MGE had all that jazz added to it, well.. Most of it =) And yeah, that surely is Morrowind!

I can only imagine how damn confusing it would be for somebody new to put together a huge amounts of mods and get all the stuff to work as expected, but for such people like us who have been here for a long time it's becoming more or a natural process =)

@Vtastek: Cloud shadows! Nice! Do they work if you are close to the ground as well? What about statics? I remember myself having the idea of doing something similar some time back.

So what tree mods do you guys use to get all those freaking awesome looking trees?

It's been eight years...

Statics receive shadows too, and even your character. For ground, it works from ground too, but I am trying to fade the effect when it is closer to player. But it's very funny, my code works the opposite way. It can be seen in the screenshot too. Far away looks better. I'm multiplying with world position distance, and it finds its way around 7th cell. I think now the solution would be to find the exact number of 7th cell, 100000 or something. And for fading multiply it with an image rather than numbers.

Vality's Bitter Coast, it's on PES, just type that in, and you'll find it. I also recommend you get Vurt's Ascadian Isles with it, so that the coast looks right when you go to Vivec, that way the trees still are beautiful.
