Microsoft looking for talent for a 'AAAA' title!

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 3:47 am

We are surrounded by triple A g ames like Battlefield, Halo and the likes, but it looks like Microsoft wants to go beyond "top of the class" and invent their own class!

Isn't this just as pointless as upping the maximum mark of a test from 100 to 1000? I'm definitely curious to see what it is, and looking forward to whether it will be good, or if the whoel thing will go down Hindenberg style.

AAAA is an internal benchmark. It roughly translates to "shovelware" in external parlance.

AAA seems to mean anything put out by a big company, regardless of actual quality. It's like a country that's a trillion in debt still having a AAA credit rating.

At first I thought it was a typo, but it's mentioned multiple times.

...ten imaginary bucks say its going to be (just another generic) fps.
EDIT: isn't halo 4 in the making or something, being made by someone else than Bungie? I don't have an 360 so I don't really keep up with that sort of stuff.

You mean 15 Trillion, right? :P

That being said, sometimes when a huge company really takes out all the stops, spends oodles of money, and hypes up their game, a good game can result. :slap: Well, at least in theory. I guess the closest thing was Half-Life 2, which was actually pretty good.

I always love seeing more examples of linguistic inflation; AAA was already silly enough. :sadvaultboy:

And here I thought they'd just start adding plus signs: AAA+.

They wanna turn the internet into a massive multiplayer experience by integrating operating system and gaming engine into one, with web sites becoming web shops renting space within the 3D internet gaming experience, forums becoming amphitheaters where you goto mingle, and any residence is an anology to you desktop.

Thought Sony copy righted that idea with their Playstation Home thing and Second Life took care of the rest. Personally I see this as inevitability more than a horror story, but who says the future can't be horrifying.
