Midwest BOS in Fallout 4?

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 3:31 am

Anyone else notice the Midwestern BOS insignia on the crashing airship, seen at E3? It is a reverse image of the insignia for the BOS.

Considering it's just the Brotherhood of Steel logo and the ship is named the "Prydwen" - the name of King Arthur's ship - it's mostly likely the EBoS.

The Capital Wasteland Brotherhood's insignia is also mirrored.

So is this a reference to Arthur Maxson from FO3?

What "The Enclave" said.

-Owen means young warrior/nobel

-Sarah means Princess

-Lyons = Lyonesse, a kingdom in Arthurian mythology that was allied with Arthur.

By this we have Nobel/King Owen Lyonesse and his daughter "princess" Sarah Lyonesse

-Arthur Maxson = King Arthur

-His kingdom was stolen from him by his "brother(s)" the western Elders/Mordred

-The Pride is a lose allegory of the Knights of the Round Table, and he tables in The Den area of the Citadel they sit at are in the shape of a circle.

-The Pride helps the player retrieve the Purifier, aka the Holy Grail, that contains the divine water.

-As The Enclave mentioned, the airship is named Prydwen, the ship of Arthur.

I always thought the "Song of the Lightman" from FO3 would be a reference to Arthur Maxson if he were to be in the next game. Five made into one one be the Maxsons before Arthur.

Tweedle dumpling, tweedle dare,
Curse the younglings, if you care.
For theirs is youth, and joy, and power,
Five made one in the Lightman's tower.
And when they come, these five of sun,
The Lightman's progeny have won.
So sound the trumpets, clear and loud!
And think beyond the Eastern shroud.

Do the Midwest Bros have Vertibirds? The East Coast Bros do.

I remember walking the Capital Wasteland in FO3 in awe of my surroundings, nigh drooling at the beautiful destruction. It was then that I came across a patrol of four Outcast brothers. I was taken aback by their disgruntled demeanor and chiseled outlook on the world. I still remember their screams of anguish when I decimated them along with Dogmeat, their weapons, not so much their armor at that point, proved incredibly useful.

37/10 can't wait to reconnect with the Outcasts again!

Seems likely, while its possible Bethesda is just continuing the Arthurian image they expended on in Fallout 3, Boston is much closer to DC then it is to Chicago... where the "small detachment" of the Brotherhood is supposed to be. Of course knowing WHEN exactly the post-war part of Fallout 4 begins could also be helpful. We know the game begins before the war but when exactly do we step out into the wasteland? But it doesn't have to be Lyon's group, maybe it is the west coast or what's left of them. They tried to retreat east to join up with Lyon's group but were knocked off course. Or maybe the West Coast brotherhood sent expeditions to different parts of the east coast.

Well Codsworth says it's been 200 years but that's likely just a generalisation.

Giving that the Airship is part of the Arthurian legend, I'd say it might be as-much as 10 years after Fallout 3 to allow for the Brotherhood's expansion.

It hope it's not to distant though otherwise it's going to be hard to justify Alan Sutler still being combat capable as an old man.

We know that the prologe happens during the start of the great war. Great war started in 2077 , Codsworth tells us that we were missing for 200 years, there I no reason to doubt his words at that point. So fallout 4 proper happens in 2277, which means that it takes place during the same year that Fallout 3 takes place.

Yeah because if I say '200 years ago' I allways mean exactly 200 years... It's around 200 years. Not exactly 200 years.

If you watch E3 where it starts speaking of FO4, go slowly through the concept art, in one frame you will see, to my surprise aliens-like in Zeta- and above this pic is a large man wearing a cape with a metal neck emblem(brooch) of the BOS. I'm assuming this is Arthur.

You know, Beatrice Armstrong trusted a Mr. Handy named Andy, once. Just once.

I am not saying you are wrong when you say the year is 2277 when Fallout 4 starts, I am only saying that a Mr. Handy, ANY Mr. Handy, should be regarded with a healthy dose of suspicion.

Nearly forgot about the little runt Maxson...

Maybe we will finally be able to kill him, because he will no doubt be blasting quotes from the rulebook probably...

Todd Howard also said 200 years after the war. Source confirmed. Print it.

We also know that really can't be true.

200 s a vague term, much like how people shorten "X was 634 years ago" to just "X was 600 years ago"

My dream is that the Midwest and Lyon's chapter are both in the game, but doubt that will happen.

If it's 2277 again. then it's simutanious with Fallout 3. Probably Midwestern BoS.

Playing devil's advocate here (I don't necessarily think this is the most plausible answer), but what if it's a new chapter, one we haven't seen before?

Would make sense. Some of the Outcasts from Lyons' Chapter and some Scouts from the Midwest could have merged into a new Chapter. Sounds interesting. They also have the new Fancy T-60 Suits, so They might not even be from the DC Outcasts.

I was only half kidding, but like the idea because we wouldn't find out anything about fallout 3 and that would make for an interesting discussion.

That would mean yet another Brotherhood derivative.

They can't have chapters in every nook and cranny in the continental United States. I think occam's razor holds in this case and its probably the ECBOS.
