Minigun Upgrades?

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 2:03 am

I've been using the unique Avenger minigun because of its high rate of fire but unfortunately the clip size is way too low and runs out too fast.

The minigun has a larger clip but also fires slower hence doing less damage per second. I know there are mods for the minigun but I can't find them anywhere! Any help is appreciated :)

PS: I'm lvl 25 if that helps with leveled loot.

Yeah, the minigun has a mod to increase rate of fire and one that reduces spread. It will show up in the usual places, just be patient (or be impatient and sleep A LOT).

Too bad the Avenger cannot be modded.

Even with the mods, the regular mini is not as good, at least per the stats on the wiki. The Avenger already has a superior rate of fire and tighter spread.

Mods are randomly at vendors. There is nothing to recommend other than reguarly checking Gun Runners. It took me forever to find the CF Frame for the Laser Gatling gun.

Hey guys.

I ended up at level 28 and just retrieved the mods using the console. I don't normally cheat like that, but I don't think I had much choice.

The minigun + both upgrades is actually better than the avenger. The damage is the same and the rate of fire is the same (with the speed upgrade). And it has 240 bullets per reload opposed to the avenger's measly 120.

Which all goes back to the problem that they (Obsidian) apparently never did a re-balance pass of all weapons/ammo towards the end of the development cycle to make sure everything made sense (both in terms of making the uniques "better" and in making difficult to obtain items better then the more common ones). Instead, we got stuck with whatever values a dev happened to plug in (which seem to have been determined by throwing darts at the wall).
