You should find some metal veins on the floor and walls. When you see one click A and it will mine them.

i got a pickaxe, hm how does the things i need to mine look like? i am in a mine located a place another guy told me there would be ebony and there is black spot around, but nothing i can interact with

I went out of the mine and there was some weird orhdhadj ore that i could mine, so i guess the mine i was in was just empty, well, where can i find ebony ore?
