Minutemen - No Quincy Mission?

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2016 5:54 pm

I was kind of surprised that the Minutemen or Preston didn't have any particular missions against the Gunners such as taking back or getting revenge at Quincy. I almost would have liked to see Quincy as a personal mission from Preston in order to get his companion perk.

It could have opened up options for the player to plan out a siege with artillery, take sniper positions, or just charge in with power armor while getting backup from the Minutemen. Currently in the game you can find Clint who betrayed the Minutemen but besides a simple "Companion liked that" when you kill him there's not much other interaction. It seems like there could have been more where the player either encouraged Preston to take Clint out on the spot as revenge or take the traitor back to the castle for a court-martial where you could then decide his punishment. The punishment could be as simple as a firing squad or lead to a few ridiculous options such as shooting him up into the sky with a timed mini-nuke strapped to his chest. The next DLC would allow you to even pit him, other traitors, or high ranking Gunners against captured Deathclaws.

The Minutemen just need to be fixed up in general. So much of it as a faction feels incomplete and it has so much potential to actually be a great player experience.

I wish they did. After retaking the castle we should of had a quest for taking Quincy Back.

By the way Bacon, do you play Bloodborne by chance? I've seen the name BaconDragon there.

I do not, either someone is using the name or potentially saw my name on Twitch/Twitter and wanted to use it. If I get a PS4 I might consider picking it up though.

I agree. Literally only twenty minutes ago I was going through Quincy with my new sentry bot BIG JIM SLADE, laying waste to the gunners there, and I couldn't help but think "Why can't the minutemen retake this place?" After all, the whole Minutemen quest line is based around rebuilding the Minutemen and reforging their legacy after their near destruction at Quincy, and retaking and rebuilding Quincy would have been the perfect way to cap it off. Hopefully one of the DLCs will be a Broken Steel type of situation and will further enhance the Minutemen and the other factions.

Yep, a Quincy mission should have really been there.

But alas, the Minutemen in general are unfinished.

Well, taking Q back will only leads to less things to shot at since Q do bring xp and equipments if right folks spawns and beside there may be a bot or two you can hack and be your best friend forever.

Cheers,

I was searching Quincy for about an hour for a workbench after liberating it, and was seriously disappointed that I couldn't retake it. Preston does have unique dialogue for the place, however.

Agreed, there should be a mission to clear Quincy in the MM quest line. Whats more the whole town should be a settlement with the possibility of sending the gang from Concord/Sanctuary back to their former homes. I have read several posts on these forums wanting a whole town as a settlement, usually Concord. Well lets just take that idea and make it Quincy instead.

It could be a small DLC, with just a few quests. Or a huge one, with several quests leading up to reclaiming Quincy.

Just throwing this out there, but maybe we should consider helping the Quincy "raiders"?

I mean, they didn't like Preston, Marcy and Jun. That's allright in my book, no?

oh take quincy ruins back and then LOSE a good location for combat ?, NO THANKS. quincy ruins is fun as a place for combat, i like sneaking around the place, there's lots of tough enemies, an assaultron thats fun to deal with, so "making quincy ruins some friendly no enemy place" BAD IDEA, glad you didn't develop the game, all the good locations wouldn't have enemies to fight.

Pretty sure there was a lot of stuff they never got around to putting in the game. Why can we see the glow from everywhere and has a full named town with no quests or shops

Quincy has a quest specifically for the town or there are quests set in quincy?

There are a few of the latter, some radiant, 1 unmarked and at least one miscellaneous. There is no retake quincy mission though you can do it manually for some companion kudos.

MM definately need more though, I've done 1 playthrough as a MM and I've started my second. As a faction they are perhaps the most likeable, Preston is a bit of a wally for sure but characters like the woefully underused Ronnie Shaw make up for him.

Why exactly would there be a Quincy mission when everyone who lived in Quincy and is still alive lives in Sanctuary, and is fine with it?

I have never understood this bizarre need people have to reclaim and rebuild every single town they come across. First it was Kvatch in Oblivion, then Helgen in Skyrim, and now Quincy in Fallout 4.

I think here with the Minutemen it's that they aren't given much in the way of a questline. This is something the Minutemen clearly need. RR, BOS, and the institute all have a questline. Why don't the Minutemen? Thier fight against the gunners could have a really good questline. It might even make the Gunners more than Talon Company 2.0.

Well Preston himself do say that his goal with the MM is to take back the entire commonwealth ("one step at a time" or something like that) so yeah if you do a MM play through taking

back the commonwealth should be the aim/goal with the quest (including Quincy & the institute). So from a story/logic pov it makes total sense.

Then perhaps if you want to "have something to do" after the MQ it would make less sense/be less desired.

Personally I would love to be able to take back the commonwealth from Super mutants/raiders/gunners and etc with the MM in a MM/RR playthrough.

Now I'm sad, I thought there was an extra quest :nope:

Spoiler
Boy in the fridge is one of the more unbelieveable quests there is, firstly how the chuff has someone else in 200 years not released him (or pushed the fridge in the sea for fun) and secondly the chances of his parents not being turned into dead people when they 100 yards from one of the most violent camps of Gunners there is I don't know.

I sell him into slavery every time now, stupid boy
