Miraak - coolest villain in Skyrim

Post » Mon Feb 04, 2013 7:36 am

Miraak was just so cool. First off, his voice is badass, I really do like it. He sounds cool, calm and collected. Next off, he isn't this stupid 'tell you all my plans' kind of villain who is overconfident to the point of stupidity. His armour/weapons are amazingly awesome and the whole storyline about him and Mora is much better than Harkon and his prophecy. His dialogue is also awesome; even when he's stealing a Dragon Soul from you, and in the first time you meet him + the final fight he has some interesting lines about him being able to defeat Alduin and stuff, and let's not forget that killer one liner as he's being speared. The atmosphere in that final fight was great!

I could go on, I guess I sound like a huge Miraak really devoted fan, and I guess I am. Just wish we could learn more about his past, or see his actual face! Who else agrees that Miraak &--#62; any other boss in Skyrim?

I'm with you, that dude was so cool it was surprising. He was the coolest guy in Skyrim by far, he's like that guy who was so cool when your young that all the ladies want him and all the fellas want to be like him. He's the best dressed, best sounding, most confident, most powerful, and he straight punks the dovakiin for his dragon soul. I loved miraak, I hope we find out more about his past somehow. Im like you, I could go on for days about how cool he was. I feel like a fan boy, like I should have posters of him in my room cut out of some teen magazine like Justin timberlake or something, lmao.

He was better than Harkon, that's for sure. When Harkon says, "Let me SHOW you the POWER!" and then turns into that ugly green troll lookin' thing, I said "Uh-uh, no one needs to be that ugly!" and refused to become a vampire lord. Whatever made him think I'd want to look like that?

It is too bad that Miraak didn't have more dialogue. I would have iked to have known how he discovered he was dragonborn and what corrupted him. He was a dragon priest - so why did he become one? Was it the power? Ambition? The desire for Fame? How did Herma-Mora seduce him to the dark side? There were so many unanswered questions Who was he before he became Herma-Mora's hack?

This^ I think they should have emphasized on his back story a little more.

Not the best of sources, but here is some history of Miraak

Miraak History

During the period of time when http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon ruled over mortals, Miraak served as a dragon priest on the island of Solstheim. At some point before his death, he came into possession of a black book which in term lead to him in service of http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Hermaeus_Mora, the Daedric Lord of Knowledge and Fate, who taught him a http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Bend_Will. With this forbidden knowledge in his possession, Miraak turned on his dragon masters, using his power to devour their souls to become ever more powerful. According to http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Frea, because of his betrayal, the dragons sought him out at his http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Temple_of_Miraak on Solstheim and killed him for his treachery. After his death, he lived on in http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Apocrypha, the realm of Hermaeus Mora, until the time was right for his return.

Taken from http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Miraak

There is also a book, I forgot the name of it, that talkes about a deciever/betrayer and how Hermy grabbed him up.

Edit: The name of the book is the Guardian and the Traitor. Here is a link to it.

Cool, but underdeveloped...sadly.
He shows up 2 times during the MQ, has less dialogue than some NPCs in Raven Rock, the fact that he's the First Dragonborn has no impact whatsoever on the story, his motives are unexplained.
Yet he's cool and a badass...and I wonder how cool he would've been if Beth gave him a proper role in the story...
