Miraak fight

Post » Mon Feb 04, 2013 5:12 am

I want to know from my Xbox brethren what they thought of the fight with Miraak. Was it easier or more difficult then Alduin and Harkon? I haven't actually played the game myself besides observing my friend play it on the 360 so please try not to spoil too much, but in the meantime I would like to get a glimpse of what I am up against.

I personally would say on level with harkon although miraak's tactics make him slightly tougher don't know bout any one else

He completely destroyed Alduin and Harkon in terms of atmosphere and difficulty.

I felt it was similar to Harkons fight, with both of them being able to heal. Only difference was, you could stop harkon from healing, not so much miraak. I can't really say who was tougher out of the three. On my main character, I fought alduin at a fairly low level, and the first time, I died two time. Miraak and harkon on the other hand were pretty easy. I also fought all three on master without op gear/weapons.

Between Alduin, Harkon, and Miraak I had the most fun with Miraak.

MQ/DG/DB Spoilers:
The battle with Miraak blows the battles with Alduin and Harkon out if the water in practically every way. It is by far the most atmospheric battle in the game (possibly the series) and it is more difficult than either Alduin or Harkon. Alduin was just a slightly above average dragon against you and your three immortal Nord hero allies. Harkon had a weakness to Auriel's bow and you had Serana. Miraak has two dragons, lots of shouts, lots of spells, and the best sword in the game. He also can heal up several times. You start with a dragon on your side but he eventually gets control of it and kills it.

It was a good fight. (It still wasn't THAT hard, but everything in the game gets easy eventually)

The atmosphere was just win.

I can't stand how Herma-Mora comes in and steals your thunder though. Bastard.

Alduin was a easy and somewhat boring fight that lasted 3-5 min. tops with the dragon slayer sword thingy on my level 45. Harkon was a bit harder, but mostly annoying the way he runs around in the small confined room.
Miraak was too easy in my opinion. Played master difficulty and defeated him in about 3-7 min.
But, he has the most interesting boss fight of the three, but he should have been harder. The dragons didn't even touch me before I had smashed his health so low he had to consume one of them.

Well seems like most people agree that Miraak provides a decent challenge as well as an interesting match, I look forward to this fight!

Alduin was piss-easy. He bites pretty hard but when his attention is on the other three heroes and you hit him from the side, it was kind of a letdown.

Harkon was actually a lot of fun, despite the expansion being a bit annoying. (I feel like I'm REQUIRED to play it, given the constant vampire attacks killing all of my merchants). Harkon was not an annoying fight and was more of an "Outlast" type thing. His constant movement made me chase him around, with Gargoyles on my heels, etc. It's interesting on any difficulty.

Miraak's fight is... chaotic. His self-healing reminds me of Malak in KotoR1. Beyond that he didn't actually hurt me too much, and I'm not sure why. Maybe he just spent too much time shouting at me and Sprinting around.

Yeah, it's really hard to argue with this summation. But the real problem I found with the fight is Hermaeus Mora and Miraak, they don't really explain why they need the PC — sometimes I wonder why they need me at all.

I found him harder than Harkon, Alduin. However the ebony warrior is ALLOT harder ( assuming you just fight him, not look for a way to beat him with ease specifiaclly).

the ebony warrior is the toughest fight I've ever had in skyrim without question he makes all the story bosses look easy

I just did Karstaag today. On Expert.
He killed me once.

Upon reloading, I was popping almost every power I had. Even Histskin didn't save my health (though it did give me some wiggle room).

It was impressive. The only things that ever really kill me are caster enemies and... gravity.

I'd say Miraak was just a bit harder than Harkon... Definitely harder than Alduin (the world eater).

What does he do to make it so difficult for some of you?

I've done it twice on both Novice and Expert. Neither character went far below 80% health. Was I hitting HIM too hard? Causing him to go run and heal? He just never damaged me much.

It's more or less, what I don't have... I've got a character that I keep EVERYTHING to the bare minimum...

And then I've got a character that I've maxed out on Smithing... Quite a difference.

Ah I see. So it's not so much the boss being difficult, as the character being restricted somehow.

Seems most people don't really take that into account.

I was winning against Kaarstag... then he knocked flying into another cell through a door way, and when I came back he had to be 're summoned'.

well nothing is really dificult in a game where you have such free reign to hone and inhance your abilities and gear
but he was definitely more fun than alduin, no question there
a bit tougher than harkon too
he seemed to have more health in general

He was tough When i had a 30 damage sword on expert. I was chopping through him.

And then I had a 60 damage sword. Killed him in 6 hits.

Harder and more fun than Alduin for sure.
Only flaw is that there's no dialogue...only him talking like 20 seconds explaining nothing.

Anyway, one of the best fights of the game along with Archcurate Vyrthur, Harkon and Karstaag, the frost giant's ghost being the hardest.
I still think that Beth shoul make bosses harder though.

Ending - Harkon

I'd say Miraak's death was better, especially since it showed you Hermaeus Mora's true nature as an evil Daedric Prince. Before this he seemed more like an indifferent "god" that got a little bit of amusemant from tricking mortals but when he killed Miraak it became clear he absolutely adores pulling at the strings of fate..
Hermaeus Mora's energetic/angry/evil voice = orgismic.
