I miss Athletics and Acrobatics.

It only makes sense that, as you run more, you get better at running. I shouldn't be able to cast a magical spell on an enemy, improve my stamina and become a better runner from that. It makes no science.
Same with Acrobatics. I wish that skills like these existed in there own category, like "physical bonuses" or something.

it was kind of silly jogging at 70 mph or jumping from the ground up to the top of a roof though.

I remember for my warrior nord in oblivion (i'm always a nord...) i raised strength, endurance and speed. with 100 speed, and a fairly high athletics I didn't have time to stop and admire scenery. I just whooshed past everything like a car.

I agree though, I liked the mechanics of the previous games, even if they were harder to understand.

I'm going to throw out a similar situation that bothered me in another game: Runescape. That game has a pretty nice skill/leveling system, in my opinion.. or at least it did. There's a skill for mining rocks, for example. The more rocks you mine, the more experience you get. But in recent years they've added other ways of getting experience by doing unrelated minigames, such as finding penguins (?) and exchanging them for experience.. This started with a genie lamp back in 2004 that could grant you a wish to get a bit of experience in a chosen skill. That's not so bad. But how does spotting a penguin make me better at mining rocks? That always annoyed me.

I actually agree but to an extent , jumping all time shouln't make you jumpy athlet but yes using physical attributes should allow to get some bonuses , I wish they didn't cut the attributes that where befoure , I lik ethat they added perks but actually in my opinion they should have added perks to the morrowind system to have the best ....

so 8 attributes , 27 or more skills and each of them with it's own perk tree ...

While your concern is not to be ignroed, the OP's remark makes sense. Also, your observation addresses more the 'intensity' of the skill rather than the lack of logics criticised by OP. And as for the sightseeing, there is always disable run.

I miss the effect of being faster and lighter, but it is good that we don't level just while walking now because if you were to lvl using a lot of acrobatics in Oblivion it made your character weak for your level

This.

I'd rather have stats, armor/weapon degredation, and Oblivion's hotkey system back myself. The ability to run faster than a horse never made sense to me, even in a fantasy RPG.

Now if Bethesda did Acrobatics and Atheletics less extreme than in Oblivion, that would be better. In my opinion.

I like the idea of being able to increase run and jump, but it doesn't have to make my character superhuman. I'd just like to be able to jump a little higher to further define my character and playstyle. Good things modders are so smart and talented... :hubbahubba:

i too would have liked the ability to increase speed and acrobatics over the course of a game. Instead of allowing freakish stunts it could have been tuned down. And we could get some awesome perks, like longer breah holding for athletics and maybe the ability to actually CLIMB some things with acrobatics. (Like really, my Khajiit can't climb a 10ft high rock wall? This is an open world?)

I like the mechanic that running backwards is slower now, but overall removing athletics and acrobatics is a case where less IS less...

I really am not a fan so far of how they basically stripped out the whole Oblivion leveling paradigm. Seems like throwing out the baby with the bathwater.
