I Miss Seeing Myself

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 10:02 pm

So I copped the game early this morning. Put a few hours in. Enjoyed myself like mad, aside from a few minor issues and 1 major (descirbed in the PS3 Issues Subforum where they belong), but I do have a small nontechnical gripe about Skyrim:

Will I ever get to see my own handsome dunmer face, which I so painstakingly crafted during character creation at the beginning? Like in Oblivion, when on the inventory screen, one could see oneself as one tried on apparel and weaponry, to see if said inventory matches ones eyes. While I appreciate the revamped 3rd person view (in which my triceps look wicked), will I ever get to see my front again? It's great that I can view my cuirass in 3D detail, but bothersome that I'll never see what it looks like ON my character, except from the back.

Any thoughts?

Probably, like in Oblivion and Morrowind, there is a button where you hold down so you can look around your character. :disguise:

To get the same effect as having a paper doll; stand still, rotate the camera round to front, fully zoomed out and open your inventory. I do it every time I want to check out some new armour loot.

I concur. I just posted something similar and it seems that we might be out of luck. It's funny how I sort of took for granted the full view of your character in the menu screen in Oblivion. There is so much cool armor, it seems odd that you can't see yourself easily decked out in it.

As has been said, stand still in 3rd person, you can rotate the camera fully around your character.

Glad I'm not the only one...I'm at work now but all I've thought of (obviously since I'm writing in the Elder Scrolls forum instead of taking calls) has been getting home to pick up where I left off. When I finally do I'll try the 3rd person look-around thing...I guess that should satiate my slightly self-absorbed appetite. With the Favorite's Menu it kind of ends up similar to the Oblivion "dressing room" setup anyway. Thanks for replies!

i realized after raging this morning that pressing r allows you to rotate your cam all round your character, i felt silly after finding out it was so simple :-)

Yea I'll never quite figure out who at Bethesda said, "We don't need to see the character in the inventory screen. What I want to see is a close-up, rotatable goat cheese!"
