I miss the re-roll option from Oblivion

Post » Mon Nov 12, 2012 10:00 pm

The starting quest in Oblivion is very boring, but you get a chance to reroll just before leaving the dungeoun. So I as everyone else always saved before that so we could make a new char without the boring pilot-quest.

The starting quest in Skyrim is very boring, and to re-roll we have to load the prisoner save and to the whole escape from Helgen. Why on earth didn't they give us they re-roll option before leaving Helgen Keep?

It just doesn't makse sense that they removed this time and rage-saving feature from the game.

Tell me I'm not the only one that rages about this on every re-roll.

...or better yet, just leave out the cinematic opener / tutorial section and plop the player in the world once they've made their character.

Morrowind's opening is much more enjoyable, especially when replaying the game. It has a very brief tutorial, but it's barely noticeable. You essentially step off a boat into a strange world - nothing more. No scripted events to endure that attempt to railroad you into certain questlines.

I know! And I actually like the quiz from Morrowind :)

No, you are not the only one. Many folks have been requesting this since the day the game came out. They're probably why Bethesda added Galathil to the Ragged Flagon to change your appearance for a price.

Yeah, but thats not for me (ps3). I'm not a worthy customer.

But what I would want is a fun and easy way to reroll, where I can choose race/six/name and then just start playing. Helgen is fun the first time. But being forced to do Helgen for a reroll just feels very boring and un-encouraging.

Yea. I've spent countless hours reworking my character's face because it looked ugly when im not in the character creation screen. And sitting through the cutscene (though epic) was extremely frustrating at times.

I think Bethesda were expecting everyone to do everything with one character - and therefore go through the creation process only once. It certainly feels that way sometimes.

But hey, it's 20 minutes out of 200 hours, not going to kill me.

Well what would be best was if the game asked you if you are sure about race/six/name after doing one quest :D

Well I only went through it 4 times, 3 times on the Xbox 360 once on the PC, it never worried me having to do it all over again, there was a lot of time between those characters.

There is no re roll option? I honestly have not noticed that. Because I take time and make sure that's the guy I want.

But if this is a Get the Re-Roll Back. I'm In.

I always save after entering the helgen keep. Then use console command "Showracemenu" to make my character. Due to it being easier to create a character infront of a burning brazier in the dark. In the full light setting , you dont get too see how your character will really turn out. By using showracemenu you can spin the camera alot and see yourself in various light sources.

I don't exactly rage about it like the OP claims to but an option to re-configure our character (and re-distribute all the experience we've gained going through the first dungeon) would be very welcome.

Yeah, but the majority of (paying) customers are on console, including me, and thus does not have that option. otherwise I would do as you said.
