Missed opportunity with Babette.

Take a look at the edit I just made:

http://uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Babette#Notes

Now, doesn't this seem like a golden opportunity that Bethesda TOTALLY passed up? Wouldn't it have been interesting to hear her opinions about the Rule or Jagar Tharn, or to hear about how Skyrim farred during the Oblivion Crisis (since we only followed the Champion of Cyrodiil and don't know how other provinces fared during it)?

Better yet, give it some gameplay- and story-based repercussions. Make it so that Astrid goes to Babette for any history she needs.

Why didn't Bethesda do this?

Well, I hope a user mod can correct this mistake.

Not really a mistake. Just didn't think much of it. Doubt a user mod could possibly do this. In other news, I found a random encounter of Babette instantly killing a bandit at night.

Still, it was a missed opportunity.

And how could a user mod not do this?

It's really best to quote comments like this, rather than require that people go looking for them, particularly since this one has already been removed.

If she is 300 years old, that means that, according to the http://uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Third_Era, she would have been approximately 56 - 66 years old during the time of http://uesp.net/wiki/Arena:Arena, the only other game to feature Skyrim. However, she is nowhere to be found, either in Skyrim or anywhere else, due to the fact that Children were not included in that game, nor does she have any dialogue that gives opinions or recollections of the events of past games.

While she no doubt has an interesting perspective on the changes of the past few hundred years, long-lived individuals aren't uncommon in Tamriel. Not only are there are a great number of supernatural and augmented individuals, but elves naturally live a long time. It's a shame they can't all chat about their own history, but I'd have to imagine this would be a prohibitive amount of work.
