Missing NPC props, then they appear on reload

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 4:41 am

I have noticed this issue all along, but lately it appears to be more prevalent. For instance:
When I load a game in Honeyside, and walk out into Riften town square, the woodcutter is using an invisible axe to cut invisible chunks of wood. Also, Balimund is using an invisible hammer. But:
When I save the game here in Riften town square, and reload it, regardless of whether or not I exited to desktop, the scene looks as intended; the axe, wood, and hammer are visible.

I thought maybe my settings might change this. So I fiddled around quite a bit W/CCC and even tried dropping quality to "high." It made no difference, this was still repeatable every time. I even tried turning Xfire back on and fiddling around with all the settings - still 100% repeatable results.

My mods: SKSE v1.04.15.7, SkyUI (hasn't been an update since Skyrim v1.4, is v2.2), and a nvde body mod (natural nvde 1.3.1). Yes, SKSE is the one for this ver of Skyrim (1.5.26).

So, does anybody know what might be causing this, or what I might try to fix it?
I noticed the shopkeepers sometimes drinking from invisible glasses ever since I started playing the game, before I ever modded the game.

Do other ppl see this glitch too? Of those, any W/Nvidia?

EDIT: The invisible items are always in the hands of NPCs. I never have problems W/ other items invisible. The wood pile always renders too.

I've seen bards without instruments sometimes, but it's rare. I have vsync on ofcourse, but do you? Fps plays a key role in the way skyrim runs. Using an fps limiter or disabling vsync can cause weird stuff to happen.

Doesn't explain why I've seen it a couple of times though :P

Probably an engine load order error. Ive had many similar things when loading indoors. Houses loading without any form of decoration or animations (eg firepit etc). In those instances loading a second time corrects the problem. To me it looks like the games just gets the order for loading a bit wonky on occasion, meaning missing props and effects.

I've never seen anything nearly as severe as that. Only a few items at most are missing, and they are always in the hands of the NPCs.

I run with vsync on now, but I didn't for the first month of playing Skyrim. The setting is called "wait for vertical refresh" and slider is to the "quality" side setting - below there are words that changed to "always on." FYI.
