Missing spouse dialog about children

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 1:40 am

There was another thread on this I know, but tossing it out here again. I am not getting the dialog option with my spouse to ask how the children are. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this (I'm on a 360)? If there isn't anything to do, I am going to have to reload a previous save, and probably try adopting a different child.

Not every spouse had new lines recorded for Hearthfire dialogue, and your spouse is probably one of the ones who didn't. Or do you mean they had the dialogue before, and it suddenly isn't appearing anymore?

No, this is new Spouse and child situation. Drat, I hate to load a previous save only to find out it's a spouse voice actor issue and it will happen no matter who I adopt.

Does anyone else have Vorstag as spouse, and if so, do you have the dialog option for this?

I looked into it, and it seems as though Vorstag is one of the NPCs that didn't get new Hearthfire dialogue based on the fact that he can't become a steward. Don't worry though, you're not missing out on much- it's literally just one line of dialogue.

Well bloody he**! Yeah, I know it's only a line, but when rp'ing, it's an important one.
Where do you find this stuff out? I couldn't find anything about it on UESP, but then, I don't know all the resources available for info yet.

I used the "Followers" page on UESP, they have a list of every follower NPC in the game and whether or not they can become a spouse, join the blades, or be a steward: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Followers#Permanent_Followers

A good rule to follow is that spouses that can become a steward (or for non-follower spouses, share a voice actor with an NPC that can become a steward), will almost certainly have this new spouse dialogue. I don't know of any site that lists voice actors for each NPC though, so you may have to do some in-game comparing.

Looking at the link, and UESP has voice actors listed, the voice of Vorstag is shared with Farengar of Whiterun, and Thonar Silverblood. Neither of those can be married or be a steward, obviously. I think I am out of luck as far as this dialog no matter what child I adopt. Christian Svensson, I like your voice, wish you had recorded a wee bit more! lol At least Sophie has a good home now though.

Ok, for anyone else that has this issue, big thanks to Icedus for helping figure it out!

Edit: even if I didn't like the outcome.....

Iona has the dialogue to ask about the children, yet it is not always an option that comes up, it seems to vanish sometimes.

I will hope. I just adopted Sophie, I thought it would come up after I had been gone without Vorstag on a trip to Whiterun and back. It hasn't come up at all.

It always came up with Marcurio.

I also married Vorstag and I wondered why he never mentioned the kids.

Boy, that Vorstag is starting to get around! LOL

Oh well, can wish for the dialog, but we'll have to live with it.

He's a good follower, fights great, but you're right, he reminds me of a teenager. Couldn't quite bring myself to marry him, though I thought about it. Had him as a follower for a long time with my first character. He made out well though, I had him kitted out with magic ebony armor and weapons.

I liked him as a husband until he stopped cooking for me.As a steward he's really goofy.

I wonder what causes them to stop cooking? (or lose the dialog actually, lol) Marcurio, with my other character stopped doing that too.
