Missing wife stalls game

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 2:10 pm

Playing Dawnguard but my wife Aela has gone missing - no notices that she's been killed, but I can't continue the main quest line because Samara (?sp?) keeps saying to "get rid of the interloper". I've continued to do plenty of side quests, so I'm really not keen on going back thru a huge list of saves to figure out where she is in them.

I've tried waiting in the Companions home in Whiterun as well as our house in Whiterun - NO LUCK.

Ideas??

Probably stuck in a cave, trying to get out of a rock or a table or such. With some bad luck the cave is set so that nobody can exit it unless they're near you or not following you. Look around a bit where you've recently been. She's probably in one of the new Dawnguard I imagine.

she may have been kidnapped by the vampires.
people you know will get snatched by vampires then you have to do a rescue misson to get the back. Florentius Baenius in fort dawngard gives you the rescue misson to get them back.

I have had to do three resuce missons last week

I actually had Aela kidnapped by vampires while she was my follower. It was one of those moments where you just go, "wait what?" She was behind me, I talked to Florentius, he told me she was kidnapped, I turned around, and she was gone. I ended up going to resuce her after that.

If she wasn't kidnapped or dead just wait 72 hrs I believe (that maybe too much) and a little message will appear saying follower has left you.

That only happens when they are told to stay in a spot and wait. Not when they 'try' to follow and get stuck.

You told your follower to wait, I suppose... and then forgot you told her to wait and continued your journey. Yeah, I'm guilty, too.

I never told her to wait anywhere...and I've collectively waited more than 72 hours trying to find her...am I totally screwed into digging through a TON of saved games to find her?? UGH!!! This is VERY frustrating to say the least...

If you've married Aela, you should be able to chose the "speak to the Companions leaders for work" quest. She should appear as one of the map markers if you do. She is essential, so she cannot die.
