MMO to console.

In my opinion the one thing the video-game world needs most is a massively multiplayer game to come to console, and i think the elder scrolls online could do it, and should do it. Any thoughts? :geek:

To quote Dante from DmC: Not in a million years.

Though, it might be possible due to how few inputs are in the game, I don't think it should be in the same server as the PC people.

Maybe for the next generation of consoles. Who knows what the future holds.

All we know for sure is their focus is on getting it ready for PC & Mac. And that they aren't actively looking into making it available for consoles at this time.

I really don't think that it should be on console nor is it capable of being on console. The xbox 360 can hardly play Skyrim with 15 NPC's on screen. Now imagine 200 actual players connecting to one server for your screen, not to mention all the other players connecting who aren't on your screen. Maybe with the new consoles, but not with the current ones. And I still would prefer the MMO scene to stay on the PC. Just personal preference though.

I dont think it should be on the same server either, and im well aware it would be a huge undertaking, but as far as huge projects go, bethesda studios knows how to make a big game, and make it damn good, so why not make a damn big, damn good game that I can play with my damn freinds.

Its not on Bethesdas end that's the limitation, its on the consoles. Unless consoles get a lot more powerful, and Bethesda buy some HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE servers, I don't see how.

No doubt that Next-Gen consoles will not only be capable for MMOs, but most likley have features built in specifically for it. I would be willing to wager your first "MMO" games on console will be micro-transaction based. Just my thoughts on it anyhow.

Bethesda Studios is pretty good at that, but ZOS is making a pretty big massively multiplayer online game. Key words being "big" and "massively" used right after the other. A BIG MASSIVELY game can not possibly hope to work on the current consoles.

The main reason MMOs are not on consoles really has to do with online policies, particularly Microsoft's. Sony is a little more chill about everything, which is why they have DCU:O and are getting FF:XIV. The only MMO ever released on the 360 is FF:XI. If by the next gen MS and Sony become more open to the possibility of MMOs, they should have enough power to run them as well as any pc. I don't know how, but Trion is developing Defiance for the 360, and I think its supposed to be one big pool of pc,360, and ps3 players, so it'll be interesting to see how that plays out.

There have been MMOs on consoles, in fact FFXI was on 2 and the PC at the same time across the same servers and worked well together. FFXIV is on PS3 but xbox couldn't handle it, ESO may make it to the next gen consoles when they are up and destributed well but it will take Microsoft and Sony opening up to allow it, usually one wouldn't with the other since they are competing.

There is no reason they wouldn't share the server.

Actually, Microsoft wanted servers separate from the PS3 ones, and Square balked.

Had no idea they even proposed the service to Microsoft, thanks.

I really don't know about PS3, but on the MS side, games that want some MMO functionality must pass through Live, and that's something you do not want as a developer, specially in such early times for the game.

Rumors are Xbox and PS are coming out with new consoles at the end of the year.....again just rumors. However, from what I have read it sounds like they are running into issues with creating a console that will have the capabilities of a PC (performance wise) at a reasonable cost to the consumer.

In my opinion, I think MMOs are possible on a console but they are far away from achieving this goal.
