Mod Maps on Ps3 even C1

Post » Tue Aug 17, 2010 3:32 am

Just wondering if at all crytek are gonna give us console owners an answer to whether the crysis 2 editor will be available for console and/or whether the sandbox 3 SDK levels can be sent to PS3 without hacking , illegal downloads or paying out for a full DEV kit.

Heres the proof thats its being done now the CFW - way http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4wdYftp1rA&feature=related

and here that crysis 1 opening level on ps3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbdJ4B7qk8k

OK im sorry but there aren't any coming for consoles (cry-adam said so) its only exclusive for pc just like the unrealdevelopment kit if you want it just build a pc with a good video-card and download the CRYengine and buy crysis 2 for pc wich i think you arent going to waste more money lol

I already have Crysis 2 on PC anyway - just wanted info from someone if the KNOW about the c2 editor not the full sandbox or dev kit

and can you tell me how you imagine building such maps or level? you think it will be like some kind track - block building like for some arcade car game? its not working this way, even if you take FarCry2 editor which was too limiting and basically dont allow you build much will mean do completely different control type..

if they aiming on UDK from Epic they need to have fully professional middleware and this mean you will need typing a lot.. .. lots of numbers changing lots of curves in windows, scripting and configurating, create more your own content in Maya or 3D max, create textures in Photoshop... i know how editor for crysis 2 look like and its probably same as how cryengine 3 kit will look there is no chance using joypad its complete utopia for such complicated tool, even if you put your mouse to PS3 you will need keyboard and other applications, i dont say its impossible but its not going happened it will need re-work all UI elements and controls and the way how tools in editor work

Just look how games like Gears of war are made:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYGG2e9CEBE its UDK
Look how many icons, functions and all sh*t around is

here how crysis 1 maps are made:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eeBXIjjaNY8&feature=related

simply "editor" is not same as "editor" and DevKit or SDK as something more than just "editor"
If you see Tony Hawk editor its not real EDITOR its simply small tool for players create theirs own levels from blocks its not way how killzone or Gears of war is made.

(this is different question but i must put it out):
Even if they will create such tool from scratch how many console guys really will building some levels? its very time consuming and more editor will handle the more time will be needed for creating such map.

just i see what kind of comments from ps3/xbox360 players are on gametralers.com if they see PC game which needed more controlling and concentration (like shogun2) its all over "WTF is this i want play not study collage for playing game" and lots of similar comments form PS/Xbox community and Editors are much more complex than just complex PC strategy how many of them will do something in such editor? and if someone like creating maps, graphic, games or whatever and they like complex things they should use PC because its thing to be used for complex tasks

Yeah well whatever comes to console suits me, something about streaming maps to consoles, that sounds good, and i don't doubt for a second that all the available options on a editor are impossible to fit onto a console and be easily controlled.

If you want to be creative and mod or build custom levels weapons etc..then buy/use a PC !!
If you only want to play games then buy a console... but mixin up the disciplines (like editors on consoles) are a laughable thing and should disappear once in for all.
Some things cant be simplified and shouldnt be as well.
Then next thing you will trying to get is scripting in c# with a gamepad using smiley buttons instead of a keyboard.

EDIT:
And the Crysis 1 level on the PS3 is the worst kind of grfx i can think of.
This has almost nothing to do what Crysis 1 is all about.
Just accept it. Crysis 1 will not appear on "current" gen. consoles.
Is this some kind of "CRYSIS COMPLEX" all the console gamers have?
It seems like most of ya just cant accept the fact that Crysis 1 just wont run properly on consoles.
Or you constantly try to compare Ps3 exclusives to Crysis 1 ( but every try suddenly dies when it comes to technical aspects such as lighting, textures, draw distances etc...)

Errr - Consoles have USB - so gamepad opinion is just childish
A SIMPLE leve editor for C2 for the umpteenth time is what this thread is about!

Aztec dude you cant understand english - yes sandbox is cryengine but there are THREE different versions - 2 full sandbox/cryengine one free one not and the other is a SIMPLIFIED editor just for C2
And the reason we ask/say this is because this is the PS3 dicussion thread NOT PC
And BTW i have a PC and just wanted a question answered by someone in the know - not ignorant parrots like aztec

I think its just rubbish what you wish for. And please dont take it personal.
But one thing goes for the most console owners... they like it simple.
So if there would be an editor or a map maker.. it must be as simple as hell so that many console owners would dare to take a look.
easily understandable right?
So your USB argument... why would anybody that owns a PC and knows at least how to plug in a keyboard, would come to the idea to use a keyboard for an edior/mapmaker on a console? Okay maybe there are some mad scientist type of guys out there... but theyre no majority in any way.
Its just not what consoles are made for.. they are for gaming and not for editing game contents.
Its turn on console ..plug in game...play..turn of console... thats why i would buy a console... i wouldnt even try the easiest editor on the world on my PS3..because i know what i "could" do with my laptop or deskop Pc.

Little Big Planet

A lot of people want this and as a PC owner also, I wanna know if the levels i create can be ported over to Ps3, without the need of PAID Sandbox3 i.e. C2 editor and/or FREE Sandbox3 SDK.
I play on both so i want both options, i dont take this personally.
Was just after extra info on the C2 editor and full free SDK in regards to porting over - I know its designed this way i mind but only for the full dev kit.
