Also: http://planetelderscrolls.ign.com/

I imagine there will be plenty of fan mod sites too, as usual, though they tend not to last too long. Don't know of any specific ones yet.

All three sites posted are probably the best on mainstream. Of course there are "private" sites too but those aren't to publicized.

I wish that modders would use your site, as its so much easier having one site to look for mods and than a whole bunch. Morrowind mods are all over the place its very annoying, esp now that you have the Nexus download manager, its even better to use your site.

Btw did you ever get my message regarding feedback?

To be fair that site is pretty new and some of the others have been around for many years. By your logic then, it's bad that Holds of Skyrim even started up because we already had Nexus, or even older, PES. ;)

Alternately, you are suggesting that since Holds of Skyrim came out all others need to bow out and just encourage everyone to use that instead.

I don't mind variety; everyone does things there own way, and has their own style. The only thing that I found bothersome was when people decide to create too many smaller fan websites and it was the sole place they hosted their mods, but then over time they lose interest and the site ends up left to decay with no support or vanishes altogether and it's the only place they decided to host their mod, so now it's gone forever into oblivion (pun intended).

Stick to the Nexus there already far ahead of the others and it will make it easier for everyone to find mods, and just because there the clear #1 there not being lazy about it.To hlep improve user experience they have come out with a multi game mod/download manager.

Skyrim mods on the sites mentioned(at time of this post):

Nexus: 344
TES Alliance: 3
Holds: 2
PES: 0*

*There is no Skyrim section as far as I can tell, there are sections for OB and MW, top 10 list for both, nothing for Skyrim

I don't agree. I hope it never happens, but what if Nexus goes down permanently for some reason? Using just one place for all the mods makes us very vurnerable. Besides that, I seemed to have lots of problems in the past when uploading big files to Nexus, so for me it wasn't an option.

Look how far ahead Nexus is already, its much easier to find mod for Fallout 3 than Morrowind because you don't have to go to multiple sites, and now with there mod manager it makes an even more compelling reason to use Nexus.

Mirroring is always good.

Modders have a lot of reasons for choosing one site over another. It's really not that much effort to have to "go to a whole bunch of different sites". Stop being so whiny and ungrateful; no matter how inconvenient you are still spending a fraction of the time on this that the modder spent.

Also, Dark0ne, I don't know that anyone noticed what you did there; I did, and I wanted to thank you for it. That was a really classy move.

(god that sounds so sarcastic but I swear it's not)

I never said mirroring is bad, its a good thing. And by having one place to go is good for everyone, not just me.

I like the Nexus and I am voicing my praise for the effort Dark has point in to making it the clear #1 mod site, others are supporting what they like. I don't see how calling me names helps matters. If you disagree with me cite your reasons why, and leave it at that.

Well I think one thing that also confused me was that you quoted Dark0ne mentioning The Holds of Skyrim, which is where I got confused. I didn't even catch the name of the person you quoted until now; I only saw the text in the quote. In my post I meant that The Holds was new, not Dark0ne's site. Of course that's obvious. But I didn't catch it until now that Kefka was recommending everyone to use an older site, not a newer site, so that part of my response is invalid.

THoS was created by the staff at GHF with the help of a few non-staff members. Skyrim Nexus is DarkOne's site. Whichever site a modder decides to use is their prerogative and there's nothing wrong with there being more than one "major" site.

On a slightly related note, Wolflore is an advlt modding community and we will accept just about any author or modding group that's looking for a place to discuss the creation of advlt oriented mods. Note that advlt does not mean anything goes, we do have our standards.

I was confused by your post, as I don't care who came first. The reason I like the Nexus is because Darkone has made a massive mod site for many games, and must have put in a massive amount of effort to do so. Most sites only cover one game or perhaps just one series like TES. I think all pc games should have good mod kits, particular rpg's(as I like the genre the most) and Darkone is supporting that more than anyone else, so I will always recommend his sites over others for that reason alone. Of course his hard work has paid off, as modders and downloaders are so use to using his sites for a number of games that they keep using them for new games, like Skyrim.

*sigh*

I know you don't. What I just said was an attempt to explain how I misunderstood what you were saying earlier. One of my other posts way back up there. I *though* you were recommending the new one over the old one, and suggesting everyone use the new one. I got confused because your quote was for the Holds, but who you were quoting was Dark0ne. That's where the confusion came in, and thus what I'm trying to say is when I responded to you, I had made a mistake and misread your post.

Does that help? :P LOL.

I understood your reply the first time. I was just making my position clear as I never commented on it in my original reply.

Mirroring is great, as long as EVERY Modder Mirrors every file, otherwise, you end up with a scavenger-hunt like Morrowind mods currently are, because
they're scattered all over the place, because some people uploaded them to only one place, while others uploaded their mods to a different place etc....

So, mirroring will be cool if ALL modders get in the habit of uploading to nexus, PES, etc etc, not just one, but every single one

Well all my Skyrim mods will end up on TES Alliance along with my Oblivion mods. She's my home and my work is happy there. No offense to DarkOne and Nexus. I just like my happy home.

Okay that's cool then. I was afraid I'd made it look like you said something you hadn't, and I felt bad about it. Then when I tried to correct it, I was afraid I'd made it ever worse.
