Mod that helps performance - NPC issues

I have heard from 4 friends that this little download helped there performance problems the are having in New Vegas.

Downloaded the file and did a virus check and it comes up clean.

I tried it but only noticed an improvement in the begining battle when saving that first town you start in.

Worth a try for those that are having tons of problems. For one of my friends it increased his FPS from 15 to 45 during parts where there are alot of NPCS around.

Just a heads up for those that dont know about this and are having performance issues.
Also about 397 out of 400 people on another forum said it worked for them, worth checking out maybe until Bethesda and Obsidian get another patch out.

PS: I LOVE this game (:

I have a question about this mod, i have a laptop, my GPU is Mobility Radeon 4650 HD when i put this d3d9.dll into the fallout folder it works like you say, but when i go to the graphics options it says im running a Geforce 7900 GS. Why is this? any solutions? I'm going to mess around with it to see if i can fix it but if anyone knows of this problem and can help faster that would be appreciated.

That's why it works. If you 'fix' it, you would actually be breaking the fix.

It's harmless... and I can confirm it helps me out -a-lot- as well.

well when i start my game with the "Geforce 7900GS" the game just crashes shortly after...I'm really looking to get this mod to work because it would help my computer run the game a lot better, and should get ingame xfire to work with the D3D9 render.

I know its supposed to say the geforce 7900gs but idk why the second i run the game it crashes.

"Mobility Radeon 4650 HD"

Does this card support shader model 3.0?

If not, you can't use this fix as it tricks the engine into thinking you have a card that does, and so it tries to use it. Someone would have to tune the fix for your card.

I'm guessing they went with the one they did, as doing otherwise has the potential to degrade graphics quality.
