Modding impossible

Post » Sun Feb 17, 2013 2:52 am

Hi there,

since I'm missing some good old-fashioned booksellers in Raven Rock, I wanted to add Sanaso Sarothran (originally hailing from TES3's Mournhold). But whenever I try to open the Construction Kid, I get the following messages:

1. After starting the CK:

Assert

File C:\_Skyrim\Code\TESV\TES Shared\misc\BGSLocalizedString.cpp

Line: 2860
LOCALIZATION: Error opening or reading strings file.

2. After choosing "Ignore":

MASTERFILE: LOCALIZATION: Zero entries or empty block size read from strings file STRINGS/Dragonborn_ENGLISH.STRINGS. Strings will be missing.

"Yes to all" will disable all Warnings for this context.

3. After "Yes to all": CTD

The game runs well, there are no issues (so far), but modding seems to be impossible... anybody knowing a solution?

Thanks in advance,

Zeph

Thanks Terra... I will repost the information. I didn't add it to both lines

In SkyrimEditor.ini file look for the following lines and add Dragonborn.bsa as I have:

[Archive]
SArchiveList
=Skyrim - Textures.bsa, Skyrim - Meshes.bsa, Skyrim - Animations.bsa, Skyrim - Voices.bsa, Skyrim - Interface.bsa, Skyrim - Misc.bsa, Skyrim - Sounds.bsa, Skyrim - Voicesixtra.bsa, Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Update.bsa, Dragonborn - dragonborn.bsa
SResourceArchiveList=Skyrim - Textures.bsa, Skyrim - Meshes.bsa, Skyrim - Animations.bsa, Skyrim - Voices.bsa, Skyrim - Interface.bsa, Skyrim - Misc.bsa, Skyrim - Sounds.bsa, Skyrim - Voicesixtra.bsa, Dragonborn - Dragonborn.bsa

Well I can't get it to work now either... Guess I'm pulling the strings out of the bsa file like i did the other ones....

This works for me !!!!!

I used FO3 BSA Packer and opened the bsa file and looked for strings. Under strings you will see 3 english files:
dragonborn_english.dlstrings
dragonborn_english.ilstrings
dragonborn_english.strings

In my Skyrim Data folder I have a folder called Strings. Copy those 3 files there and don't worry about editing your skyrimeditor.ini file. I've had to do that will all of the DLCs to be able to use them.

Yes but also add it to the other SArchiveList as well.

Try this:
SResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Update.bsa, Dawnguard.bsa, HearthFires.bsa, Dragonborn.bsa

I have had it loaded for some time and it works fine.
I added each of the BSA for each DLC I have.
This is the only line in SkyrimEditor.ini which I needed to alter to get these to load.

Right my bad. It needs to be added to all of them.

I have no idea why when they reset our inis with their updates, they don't just supply us with inis with those sections reflecting the new BSAs.

Thank you Michele and Terra Nova for explaining it that for me. That's a whole lot easier than extracting the strings.

Greatly Appreciated :thanks:
