[REQz]Modeller wanted for armor edit.

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 3:26 pm

I was wondering if anyone who has the know how could take the Kings Jacket and add it to the Merc Grunt outfit. Texture work won't really be necessary, I can do that myself without any problems, going to remove the kings logo and alter the pants a bit.
I'd really appreciate it if someone took the time to do this, just take the regular Merc Grunt outfit, then take the Kings Jacket and put it on top.

Hopefully someone can help out here, it'd be very much appreciated :)

EDIT: Just to clarify, I'm talking about the Leather Jacket here, not the suit jacket the actual King wears, my title ended up a bit misleading in retrospect.

It's surprisingly easy to do this kind of stuff in Blender. If all you want to do is slice bits off one set of clothing and add them to another, the only controls you need are right-click to select a vertex, or hold down control (I think) to area select. Would check, but I don't have python on my computer ATM. Then once you've deleted all the extraneous bits, select the skeleton, import the Merc Grunt clothing with 'Parent to selected skeleton' active and you can export the finished outfit.

Yet again you have succeeded in making me feel like a moron :P

But yeah, that looks awesome actually, I was hoping to have the merc grunt outfit pants to retexture, but that'll do very nicely. Beggars can't be choosers, but I'd prefer the jacket itself intact, and having either Merc Grunt pants or Jeans, rather than the vault suit pants (Or is the one in the picture you linked using a different pair of pants?)

I wanna get in on this, too!
I would also like a jacket tacked onto the Merc Grunt Outfit :)

Tobar's jacket. From Point Lookout.

Just the jacket, please. :)

Ah yeah, forgot to mention. I love how there's no vault suit showing under the jacket in your picture Smert, there's tons of retextures of the Tunnel Snake outfit, but there's no reason for the vault suit to be there when you're not from a vault. Basically, all I'd need would be to get the Merc Grunt pants to replace the pants the Kings Outfit already uses, how difficult would that be?

Keep in mind my experience with Blender or any 3D modelling of any kind is non-existant. I'm open to trying it myself if I have to, but I've barely got time to mod as it is so I figure it can't hurt to ask in case someone is nice enough to help out.

Come to think of it, I could possibly try to rig the mesh for ya Urge. Would really like to extend mah experiences beyond the crappy NifScope. :P

I would love a nif of that, you have no idea how gratefull I'd be :D

Any texture work that needs to be done is no problem, it's those damn models that keep taunting me with their...something, I can't think of a funny line here, modelling is hard :P

I have already done it. It isn't released yet because it's the outfit of one of my main characters in FNNCQ NV.

@Urge
I could make you private upload if you are interested. The first public version of FNNCQ NV needs one or two additional weeks.

Yeah I was getting impatient Sesom :P No really, I don't want to cause any hassle for you, but if you're willing to do it then I'm not going to refuse.

@vdeity
I made Tobars too with merc grunt pants. But the jacket isn't in NV. So sorry this one is a FO3 exclusive.

@Urge
I send you a pm with the link in a few hours (I have to eat first ;) ).

@Systemshock
Btw. ours are a bit different. Because mine is based on leather jacket of FO3 and not the NV Kings mesh.

Mixing different armor with eachother is supereasy. There is a really easy way to do this but it's not really a professional way but it works fine for people who...dont have high standards lol. You can just copy and paste the branches that contain the models in nifskope and then block certain parts out with alpha maps in the textures. If you set the alpha map parameters to "enable testing" and set it to a flag of lets say 120 you wont get any alpha clipping. And if theres some model clipping going on just export them into obj or 3ds files and import them in 3d software and push and pull the vertex untill they don't clip no more. Sounds kind of complicated but it's really easy...when I just need some new armor quickly I just do it like this instead of skinning it and such which takes so much time.

So for example if you want the "grunt pants" to go with a "kings t-shirt" just block out the part of the t-shirt texture in the grunt outfit and block out the pants in the kings texture and combine them in nifskope. Easypeasy...
