At the back side of the Mojave Outpost, there is a gate in the fence across the road that is locked. The popup says that a key is needed to unlock it. Is there actually a key in the game that will allow you to enter that area? There is certainly a lot of empty map space past there.

Maybe a future DLC area sorta like the Northern passage or Canyon wreckage.

There is no key. Probably for the game's boundaries as that road appears to head on into California.

There is no key (yet!!!!!) and when you "no-clip" its all empty space, just waiting for DLC!

There were similar "requires key" gates in Fallout 3 too (such as in Mama Dolce's loading yard), just another way of saying "map ends here".

It's just waiting for a DLC. In fact, I would venture a guess as to say that if only one of the several closed off roads are opened in the first DLC, it might be the Mojave Outpost one.

If you take the NCR victory ending, you'd have cleared the major threats to the NCR out of the area, allowing them to open the Outpost for trade (n the radio, they say that the Outpost is closed to protect NCR territory, IIRC).

If you take that the NCR was defeated in the Mojave/New Vegas area, perhaps it'll be the road you use as the NCR retreats out of the area and back to California?
