6 MONTHS UNTIL THE RELEASE...?

Post » Mon Jul 05, 2010 2:12 am

I mean... Come on, The trailers and ads have been out for more than a year. I preordered it a long ago, but still the release date is being delayed again and again.
Please somebody tell me. What is going on? I thought crytek was done with fitting games into xbox and ps3. I might sound silly but what are they waiting for?
I have seen numerous gameplays of crysis 2.

Does Crytek just want the game to have the 2011 label?

It's the September of 2010. GOD... 6 full months until the launch? I don't know man... Look at all the crysis fans just sitting back and waiting for the game to release.

I sincerely want to know why the release is next year...

Thanks.

This. Besides, they delayed it because the game needs improvement.
I on the otherhand needs to save money to upgrade my PC before buying this game, so it's a win win for everyone.

well I have been waiting for this game for what seems like forever, but I'm fine with March 25th 2011... Gives me time to save up for a new GPU ands what not... since the first Crysis Killed my GTX 275 :/

So it seems like a good amount of time to get my Rig up to date

I dont know about you, but I like my games to be complete and as close to glitch free as possible. Also I welcome the delay since I will have Halo Reach and COD Black ops to play until march.

Lol the reason Crysis 2 is taking so long to come is not because they're putting it onto consoles this time (I'm amazed that people are stupid enough to believe that) but is in fact because the want to give you a good working game that has barely any glitches and works almost perfectly, so they aren't going to bring out something that is obviously not done and hardly works instead. Be patient, it's going to be well worth the wait

Yes, no other developer pushes games back for technical reasons, only Crytek, doing it for the first time.

@JingleHell,
Yes, no other developer pushes games back for technical reasons, only Crytek, doing it for the first time.
Seriously, the OP is having a melt down because a video game was delayed. Dude, news flash, like very game gets pushed back. Besides, JingleHell will probably agree with me when I say it is probably because they are adding an map editor to the consoles. ;D
BTW, so Crytek acquired Free Radical Design, which is now Crytek UK. They have been put in charge of most of the multiplayer design but my point is, Free Radical is perhaps best know for their work on Time Splitters and Time Splitters 2 (Also some employees from FRD worked previously at Rare who made Perfect Dark and Goldeneye, 2 great multi-player games) and both TS and TS2 did in fact have a map editor that they designed. So it can be said that employees that now work at Crytek have built an Editor for console, so in that sense I was wrong. We'll call it even.

I agree. The more delay, the better the game is gonna be. And it looks awesome already !

Exactly Joodik.

There is many shooters coming in the next few months -- Medal of Honor, COD Black Ops, Halo Reach, Killzone 3, Bulletstorm, Bodycount, Rage, etc. Any developer would like a good release date for their game to ensure good sales.

While there is nothing more awful to hear one of your most anticipated games are getting delayed, I find comfort in knowing that the delay will also bring more development time which they can use to further improve and polish the game for its final release :P

EA stated that they pushed Crysis 2 back for "better marketing date and polishing".

Makes 100% sense to me and it doesnt have me angered one bit. Gives me more time to upgrade my PC to the current decade. ^-^

Hopefully Crysis 2 doesnt get delayed any longer though. Been waiting for this game since the cliffhanger ending of Crysis three years ago. :P

Well many game developers strived to release games even after they were fully ready to sell it. This happened many times because of marketing problems. Game developers usually finish creating a game about a year before the release. The most time that's taking the most is all about the marketing. Not fixing bugs.

Come on man. It's good they let us pre-order this early but look it's 6months away. It just make no sense that they allowed pre-order half a year before the release. And it's not that developers only polish the game before the release. They can do it after. You know what "Game update/patch" means right? Deep inside of all of you, no doubt, for sure, would hate to wait for this long. Your words are all so skeptical.

I am in favor of a delay if the game has issues. We don't want another 'Haze' game. I remember reading that, that game was UK's most disappointing game that year.

With a Map Editor it would be hard to hold back review scores for poor level design. The community could just create what they want. :]

lol seriously?! You'd rather have a patch than a perfect game? That is just lame.

With that said I bet you also encourage dlc's. You know, developers giving us half baked games then releasing "patches" to it in forms of dlc. Sad.

I agree, finish the game, than patch.

Besides knowing Crytek's track record since 2007, I can't trust them to just patch the game up.
