No More Dragon Attacks.

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 1:31 am

It started in Dawnguard, but now its even worse after DLing Hearthfire. Im never attacked by random dragons at all....only dawnguard will spawn and attack my vampire character. I figured after i completed Dawnguard and downloaded Hearthfire that the dragon attacks would start again, but no. The only Dragons i faced in the last 100 hrs of play are ones fixed in certain areas. Fast travel never has Dragons showing up, neither does travelling roads by foot. Is this a bug, or will attacks start happening again?

Did you recently finish the MQ of the regular game that drastically cuts down on dragon attacks

Yes, although Dawnguard then toned it down a lot, Hearthfire if you used to have over enthusiastic dragons, will return them to annoy you at Lakeview Manor. You want a lot of dragons finishing the main quest will get them for you.

Yeah. Try lakeview manor. I am busy complaining in another thread they should tone it down a bit. I'm getting bored of being attack by a dragon seemingly one time out of two when I get back to my home. The first time it happened I tought it was epic. But after slaying 6 or 7 of them, not quite so.

I have noticed in all the characters i have created and lvled that random dragon attacks are really not that common until after you complete the quest Alduin's Bane, the quest that gives you dragonrend.

I am up to the quest where you trap the dragon in Whitereach, waiting till i hit 60 to start it, and it seems like i am getting attacked by a random dragon every other time i fast travel.

Dragon attacks scale up as you advance through the main quest - there's three levels of dragon attacks. Get further into main quest. When you start out, they only appear out of the dragon hole thingies.

Did you take the horn from her and immediately leave? If that's the case then dragons will NEVER attack. You have to complete the quest "Blade in the Dark" before any dragons will spawn.

I get dragon attacks pretty frequently. Not all the time to be annoying or anything. Sometimes however they fly around overhead and don't attack but so far most the dragons have been Ancient dragons *completed main mission*. Is there anything above the ancient dragon, and if so when do they show up?

I've only had 1 dragon attack at Landview since it was build (on the 4th). I've not completed all the houses and am in the weapons hanging phase. There was a giant early in the manor's life and then the recent frost dragon. With Ray, Lew, the horse, Mjoll (following) and myself, it was quickly dispatched. I've completed teh MQ and DQ. I'm more concerned about the Revered Dragon type that attacks when I FT to the smaller holds. I"ve lost people in those places recently from those.

Some other peoples at this dead dragon faliing from the sky problem. I clearly remeber that from the technical support thread for the main game. Do a search there.

I don't know about the rest of you but I get attacked by dragons every time I walk out the [censored] door. Its been mostly legendary and elder dragons that are giving me issues. Like I said it's constant, every time I go somewhere there they are. I have even had on occasions been attacked by two dragons at once. Sometimes I will get attacked by three if I'm misfortunate enough.

Man it's so different on the pc, I get out of a building just once and what do you know tense music starts and a legendary dragon flies over. This is extremely annoying, be happy that you do not have this problem.

For example: I was on top of a roof at the mages college summoning my unbound dremora and because of a dragon it ran away trying to fight the dragon somewhere (not to be found anywhere) making it impossible for me to finish the quest and get a sigil stone from it. Reloading different save game does not stop the Dragon from appearing so I had to delete the damn thing via console before summoning.

It's because of where you stopped the MQ. No random dragon attacks while the quest 'A Blade in the Dark' is active. I would guess this is done so that a dragon doesn't appear while you are traveling with Delphene, and the player questioning why she doesn't recognize your dragon-soul-eating ability before they intended her to.

Usually people do this on purpose so there are dragon souls, bones, and scales that can be collected, but no random dragon attacks.

i wanna say that dragons attack randomly every now and then. I hardly have dragons attack. But sometimes they fly down low and chase after me from a distance. Then they rarely happened for about 7 hours. theny they constantly attacked for 9 hours of gameplay then they rarely happened for a while. I had dawnguard downloaded as well. Now that i built a house next to a dragon nest in falkreath, the casual ancient dragon and reverred dragon attack every now and then. I dont think its a bug really. Just a resting dragon :)

We have had dead things falling from the sky long before Hearthfire came out, it is an old problem. I restarted Hearthfire for my first character after I was miffed about missing out on some things due to bugs. My second character got a lot more in her houses. Despite all the time I put into home decorating, I want the full furnishings. On arrival at Falkreath he went into the local trader looking for goat horns, came out all ready to collect is new plot of land and was attacked by two legendary dragons and a blood dragon as well as the usual group of Dawnstar. He lost more than a few NPC's getting rid of them.

Went back to a save game, tried again, got the skeleton of the blood dragon rising from the ground and the very alive bunch of twits from the Dawnguard. No trouble, got the deed and went and built the small house for Lakeview Manor. Everything looked fine from the outside, but there were no textures on the inside and no door, you could go in and jump out through the walls. Turned the console off in a huff. Will try clearing the game cache when I restart, I have a save just before he started building that disaster. Practice makes perfect, he will get it right in the end.
