[REQWIP] More Gold Everywhere

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 12:11 pm

I'd like to see more gold on vendors, in chests, on corpses, in urns, and in coin purses. It seems weird that ancient urns or huge chests have on average less than 50 gold in them, or those coin purses that look packed with gold only have 10-25 gold in them. Also, high end vendors seem to only have between 500-2000 gold at any given time. I'd like to add more gold in everything!

So I propose this: More gold (as stated above) in everything. Will work on this when the CK arrives, unless someone beats me to it!

Yeah, I also would prefer the opposite of this. I don't understand how there would be any gold just left in random chests and boxes. Realistically, gold was extremely hard to come by in 'those days'.

OT; to OP, I am from ON as well, in the Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge area.

Do you really have money problems in this game? I regularly have like 10k, go to a spell shopping spree then slowly build it up again. It's balanced if a bit too easy to get rich imo.

OT: I'm temporarily living in Lindsay at the moment, which is near Peterborough.

Anyways, I honestly feel like at the very least vendors should carry more gold, or high profile targets. I don't like looting or pickpocketing a "rich" NPC only to find 50 or so gold on him/her. There's also the whole coin purse issue where they look nice and full (100-200 gold pieces) and only carry 10-20 or so... Doesn't make any sense to me. Obviously this won't be a mod for everyone, but I'm actually only doing it for roleplaying purposes. One of my characters is very rich and would be worth 20-50k gold at any given time.

Perhaps I will make some variations on this. Maybe one version will only add more gold to vendors and coin purses. Perhaps I will add a version that makes chests more lucrative for treasure hunters. This mod won't be for everyone to be sure, but it's something I'd like personally.

For example: In Fallout 3 I made a mod that made rad suits protect 100%. I felt that realistically you should not be absorbing radiation if you're wearing protective gear. This is one of those absolutes. All or nothing kind of mod.

Also a supporter of the opposite. Its an immersion breaker to see 5 gold in pitchers here and there... Maybe those could be removed and more gold could be added to locked hidden chests instead to keep the balance.

Gold is already plentiful in the game. If you want more gold on the vendors, invest in the Speech tree. What would be the point of the Speech skill if vendors already had more money to trade with?

Im at 87K gold at the moment. gold is relatively easy to obtain. So much balancing work needs for this game, its unpolished hardcoe.

I'd still like to do it. I'm having a bit of a crisis with my inventory being overfull and don't want to sell off valuable items for 0 gold.

Can any of the third-party tools make changes to the amount of gold the vendors carry?

Gold is already way to easy to get.

I was able to buy a house by level 5. That shouldn't happen.

There's a perk in the Speech tree that gives all vendors +1000 gold in the game.

Also, IMO, all of those coin sacks seem to contain correct amounts of gold. Septims are pretty big, so 10-25 is pretty believable even for the big ones.

But yeah, I've been getting plenty of gold. I mean, I am an Imperial so I get that bonus, but still. I was worried at first that I wouldn't get gold fast enough, but I actually got it a lot faster than I expected, which is both good and bad. I mean, I like having the money, but it's sorta unbalanced.

But ya know, if you wanna make this mod then go for it. Nobody's stopping you.

I have to disagree as well. Scrounging easily nets you a lot of god, plus I've found some quests provide gold rewards that are too high in my opinion. Then there's ridiculous amounts of loot to sell, and for those who use that as a way to earn gold, the perk to increase vendor gold has already been mentioned.

To be honest I just wanted a more beneficial way to get rid of all my unnecessary loot. I'd rather not give away good items for free...

I would like to see a reduction in the sell price of items and an increase in the buy price of items. Sort of like the differential between buy/sell a low Merchant skill vs a high Merchant skill would have in Oblivion.

Gold is too easy to make because theres too many items to sell that are worth too much. The problem is still selling them, very few vendors have over 1000 which is fine in itself. It's better to leave that and just tackle the root of the problem.

Like I said, it doesn't really matter how much gold my character makes. It's more about getting rid of loot in a gainful way. Most dungeon crawls I've found 100s of duplicate items, lots of useless stuff for my character specifically and yet still stuff I need to keep to get some good money.

The character I am using gets into a lot of trouble too so I spend a lot on fines and such, which keeps me from getting too rich I find. Currently after roughly 30 hours on this character and level 21 I'm sitting at 8k gold. I think it's really all the fault of the heavy-ass dragon bones and scales. I've resorted to selling all my bones as I don't need them for armor (he uses light armor), but I reluctantly had to store my scales not knowing if the chests in player homes respawned...

So it's really just a better way to trash items without losing money. Perhaps that's not fun for some people but I feel it's needed for my own personal reasons. This really isn't a REQ anymore so much as a small mod I will work on for myself and release later.

If you raise your speech skill - or get items that boost your speech skill - you will be able to sell those items that vendors are currently offering you 0 gold for.

And yes, storage in player homes does not get respawned, so you can store all those heavy dragon bones. Unless there's a bug with an individual container.

Yeah I changed my mind. There is far too much gold in the game already. Just please somebody move all the gold in stupid urns into chests to give the feel of finding treasure.
