No More HotKeys, No More WoW Clones! Give us the TRUE Elder

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 2:30 am

When I was first told today that they were actually going to make an Elderscrolls MMO I was overjoyed. I thought I can't wait to check it out, I am sure many of you felt the same joy but also the same horror when we all found out the truth that TES Online was going to become another WoW clone. Well I can tell you that I am mad as hell and i am not going to stand for it and I hope none fo the readers of this post stand for it either.

What I was hoping for....... No I am demanding a true Elder scrolls Experience! Now let me try and elaborate on what I mean by that.

I dont want to have to have my faction chosen for me because of my race: Basically this is a stupid idea and should have been laughed at the moment it was uttered. Why? I dont want to chose between playing the race I want to play and playing with my friends its limiting to the extreme and it is not the way any of the past eEdler Scrolls games, Frome Morrowind through Skyrim where played. We got to choose the factions we wanted to be in and could if we wanted join all of them the choices where limited only to what you felt like doing at the time and that is what I would like to see. Now I understand we probalbly wont be able to join all the factions in an MMO no that would be too much work but at least give me the chance to mak my Nord and Play with my Orc buddy.

No Auto attack, Less Hotkeys, MORE ACTION!: I am truelly done with Hot Key MMOs The are Relics that are part of a dieing era of MMOs that are past their time and desprately trying to cling to life. Lets face it Rift, Wow, and ToR are failing and I dont want to see an MMO especially one from a backround of such rich lore to kill itself before its even in Beta. Take some more time and make the combat Fun even if it means adding a few years I can wait and I am sure many others can too. I would much prefer to see the combat closer to what Skyrim is currently nice acion (allthough a little stale at times). Basicly a Terra combat system is what I am looking for here. More mobility with some Blocking and Dodging with arrows that you actually have to aim (I want to keep the first person if at all possible). Many of you are probably saying If you like Terra so much go play it. Well I would but the story and lore are terrible and the lack of voice acting is also a major dissapointment and with Bethesda claiming a fully voiced MMO with what its is probably going to be a good story (it should be with thousands of years of lore behind it) we can possibly save it and turn it into a block buster. Thats if they are willing to chage it. Now if they absolutely must have hot keys then I hope they make it a Hybrid like Guild Wars 2 It feels more like an action game even with its hot keys and flows very fluidly in combat. Basically a WoW combat model will just show everyone just how lazy Bethesda is.

Business Model: I will go ahead and say that if this is subscription I am not playing it. Bethesda could have got me to pay monthly if it had impressed me with it's tidbits of information sadly I am less than impressed and therfore B2P is there only hope at this point. I am sure they could cook up all sorts of tast in game store items and perks to kepp us feeding them cash so let them.

Well there is are my thoughts. I am sorry for the wall of text I just don't want to see a series that I have come to love and enjoy get turn into a comercalized peice of crap due to a like of forsight and a lazy aproach to the MMO market.

The true Elder Scrolls experience is real-time combat and a game uninhibited by typical restrictions to behavior and skill "builds".

This is not practical for an MMO. Precise, real-time interaction between a ton of players isn't something you're going to see from everyone with all sorts of internet connection types. And we certainly can't have the "You make me mad, I'll kill you and you'll stay dead" we have in the single-player games. And, of course, we can't have the freedom of roles that TES games have because that would a) not allow for strategic roles in instances/dungeons and B) be way to hard to balance.

Like WoW =/= WoW Clone.

You say that, but it's never been tried. Or do you have a counterexample you'd like to share?

I wouldn't be fussed about it not being like TES if they hadn't automatically decided to make it like WoW.

What's so bad about taking risks and giving us something new?
