No more physical copies for me! (Unless it's collector's ed)

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 5:11 pm

Here it is 11:57 PM and I'm still waiting for Skyrim to be delivered at my door, whereas those fortunate steam users have now installed and are enjoying this outstanding game as we speak! So my advice to anyone who wants to purchase a new gamesas game via Amazon/B&M, DON'T...Just, don't, as it's a waste of time waiting for shipping/delivery time (Nixing your whole day waitng between the hours of 8AM-6PM) as you'll need to install the game via steam anyways, and that extra packaging simply takes up too much space anyways!

I for one am done with physical copies, unless of course, they aren't tied up with steam!

Agreed. I thought I'd circumvent download time due to heavy bandwidth usage of steam servers but .. Doesn't seem like the best decision now

True...But I can make my own mods and download them as well. Not to mention a PC user can take advantage of having a much more powerful system than consoles. (Though, I do not knock consoles as I started out on them.)

My pc wouldnt read Skyrim disc. It starting having siezures the moment the disc entered the drive... So all that time in single digit temps was wasted cuz I had to download it from Steam anyway.

I came to the same decision a couple of years ago. Most games don't come with manuals worth anything anymore and the boxes are just cheap cardboard. I buy on Steam and don't even have to keep up with a disc! I've also moved a couple of times and changed PCs, and Steam is awesome for instantly having all your old games available.

If you pre-order on Steam you can pre-load. In other words, most of us had downloaded Skyrim DAYS ago, we just had to wait 5 minutes for the files to decrypt and unlock at midnight.

Yeah I realized this on the wrong release. It's just games can hardly be considered a priority in my life, and so I seldom pre-order; I make few exceptions but TES games are always one.

It's more of a lesson to not order online. I woke up today, went to Gamestop, picked up a PC copy (cool too, got a pre-order map without pre-ordering), came home and I'm installing now. Sure, lots of people are playing it before me, but if that really bothers you, I'm sorry to say, but you have issues.

Until, I finally have it delivered, then all is moot! BTW, Steam users was able to DL and play this game a day before you, so your point has been nullified.

Someone can't read it seems, I clearly state that I don't care that they were playing before me.

My comment was towards your general point of "It's more of a lesson to not order online." -(Response:) "BTW, Steam users was able to DL and play this game a day before you, so your point has been nullified." than your personal opinion of that point "Sure, lots of people are playing it before me, but if that really bothers you, I'm sorry to say, but you have issues." -(Response:) "Until, I finally have it delivered, then all is moot!"
