Splash Damage is doing something interesting with weapon unlocks, tying them to challenges designed to teach the game's mechanics and systems. The early levels of the challenges are easy, allowing players to jump in, learn some things, and come away with a shiny new gun. The later levels are challenging and will be tied to leaderboards and further unlocks. It's reminiscent of StarCraft II's challenge system for teaching multiplayer mechanics. Splash Damage CEO Paul Wedgwood admits that it is basically "bribing" players with weapon unlocks, but it will help teach players the game.

I have to say that I like that idea a lot. Does anyone know if the challenges are going to be offline with bots or playing with people?

The guy in the second link in the OP mentioned pre-ordering being available next week, so I assume that the various retailers will have images up then to show-off what they can offer people.

What I would like to know is if these Pre-Order bonuses are exclusive to pre ofering or if they are just early unlocks. Also if they are exclusive if they will stay that way or if they are going to 3 weeks after launch release it on PSN, Live ect to be purchased.

I look at it this way - If your gonna buy Brink anyway, why not pre-order it? If the pre-order bonuses are exclusive, then you have something others don't. If they release them later, then whats it matter? You pre-ordered it anyway, and you'll have 1 less "pack" to download (or pay for). It's not pre-orders cost more than buying it after it releases.

I agree I am just curious if they will have it as DLC a month after the game comes out for people to download because he was talking about how he wanted to reward those who were early adopters if it is released later then it wasnt really anything. Either way I am going to be pre ordering Brink so it doesnt matter just bringing up wether you guys think they will keep it exclusive or not I dont think they will.

Also the Steam Pre-Order thats PC correct? Which would mean you cannot get it unless you play on a PC?

Edit: PS Horse looks like we wont be able to make our own custom Brink figurines like we were talking about would be cool for pre orders

I agree, I am probably going to be pre-ordering Brink because I am 99% sure I would buy Brink within a week of its release anyway, so why not have the extra goodies that comes with it?

I am fairly sure the items are exclusive, because I remember in one of the videos the guy was saying that they are symbols that you were one of the first players with the game.

Yes, Steam is PC only. However the preorder items it comes with (Spec ops bundle if I remember correctly) is also available from Walmart for people who pre-order the game.
